Don't blame the mechanics, blame the engineers:

A working Accident Avoidance System is badly needed even in slow speed and reverse gear!
Those are my thoughts exactly. I read all these acclamations from Tesla about collision avoidance, but then this can happen. I see all these ads on TV where a car is backing up out of a driveway and all of a sudden the car applies the breaks and it turns out there's a kid's stroller behind the car, or the more recent Nissan commercial where the car stops itself before hitting someone or something and the driver is embarrassed because she didn't notice. Those cars aren't as advanced as Teslas, so why can't Tesla also have that technology?
