We haven't heard from Aliens because they're all dead.

I've always considered this one of the more plausible answers to the Fermi Paradox... This certainly highlights the importance of keeping our home in working order as well as the incredibly absurd insanity of continuing our dependence on fossil fuels any longer than necessary.

Life may be common... but the conditions which allow it to evolve to the level humanity has attained is likely very rare. Consider that we've already expended >50% of the habitable life of our planet and only 1 species that we're aware of has developed the technology to leave Earth.

The more we learn about other planets and the threats they face the more likely it appears that what we have is indescribably rare. That we're not doing more to protect it is more than a little sickening.....

Then there's the theory that there are a reasonable number of other intelligent civilizations, but they're lying low.
