Great September Delivery Push

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
Ordered (no preorder/previous car/employee) 8/17
AWD/Black/Black/EAP, to trade-in, 3rd party finance

Contacted 9/10 to schedule 9/27-9/30 delivery
Selected 9/27, got VIN early for insurance purposes

Sorted out some registration/insurance/loan name sync issues last week
Received MVPA, signed and returned over weekend

Home delivery 9/27 just waiting now..

OP: IMO location & config are relevant - e.g., RWD has no backlog, meaning orders can be processed as they come in and there may even be inventory in some places, while AWD/P requires Tesla to match buyers to their cars.

Perhaps but the issue over the next 2 weeks is Tesla processing. Anyone's order can get screwed up while they're trying to pull this off. Obviously you can see from the replies already people can't help posting configs, but then it very quickly devolves into people trying to divine who is getting what, when, and why, which none of us can answer.

Anyone with a early August order expecting delivery anytime soon?

All P's WILL at least attempted to get delivered before end of Sept.. thats what the data is showing right now with white seats getting better chances.

Vast majority of AWD's will get delivered before end of Oct for sure with the exception of few lucky ones who get a quick match will get much earlier between now and early Oct and then the few unlucky ones who may wait for every for no reason

12/25/17 - Reserved, SoCal
6/29/18 - Ordered AWD, White ext, black int, EAP
8/7/18 - Emailed to change order to P3D-, white ext, black int, EAP - reassured by multiple phone reps free supercharging would transfer to this order due to original order date but advised to change order via email so they could make sure it transfers (and the free data package)
9/12/18 - Order page finally updated online/email, est. delivery late September
9/17/18 - Received email from delivery specialist to schedule delivery Friday 21st or Saturday 22nd, scheduled 21st @ 830am (off all day!)
9/17/18 - Phone rep confirmed (though this is never reassuring for some reason...) that free supercharging is part of the order. I saw Elon tweet they would extend the referral program to the 18th due to some issues so I asked her if I could add a referral code to be safe and she said absolutely and told me to email referral code to [email protected] so I did that. Really hoping that the free supercharging doesn't fall through the cracks; it's the straw that broke my camel's back as far as ordering the P3D!

Still...SO EXCITED.

I actually just received an email from the referral program stating that since I ordered the car prior to 16th they added the referral code eventheven I didn't placed the order with it. I didn't know it was supposed to be used at the time of the order.

Your typo is confusing me...just want to clarify, you didn't use a referral code when you ordered, and when you asked about adding one they said they had already added a random referral code to the order order to ensure the free supercharging?

Actually, final update, just received an email from them:

"The referral program started for Model 3 performance vehicles on 08/01/2016, you placed your order before that date and ordered a performance vehicle so you will automatically have free unlimited supercharging. I apologize for the inconvenience."

So even though the MVPA, etc. acknowledges order date as the date it changed (9/12) they're going by the original date the Model 3 order was placed, even if the trim, etc. changed... Great news, especially to have in writing!

What pushed you over to change to the P3D+?

I always liked the look of the 20 inch wheels, spoiler, and red brakes, but it didn't sound like they were going to be swappable with 18 winter wheels because of the fit issue. But then I started reading that Tsportsline was going to have a set of 18s that would work with the P upgrade. Throw in my fear that I would live to regret not going "all in," and it all just sort of pushed me over the edge.

It happened like this:

A friend of mine has a model S so he told me to let him know if I needed it.

Once the model 3 became available I teqreques a test drive then eventually got a call to schedule the test drive.

Test drove the car on Aug 25, during the test drive I mentioned that I have a friend with a model S. The guy told me that if I get a P3D I would get free unlimited supercharger access. I didn't know at the time.

Got home that day and ordered the car. Then I texted my friend telling him that I was going to need his referral code. He was away on vacation and didn't send me the code until the following week.

When I got the his referral url I clicked on it and the system prompted me to order a car, but there was also a button/link that said something like already have a reservation, so I clicked on that and it just took me to my Tesla account page.

There was no confirmation that the code was applied.

I then sent an email to the guy that helped me with the test drive, telling him what happened. He asked me to send the tefrefer code and he was going to apply it. So I did.

Waited a couple of days and no confirmation. Called the guy and sent a few emails. Eventually he called me back and left a VM telling me not to worry that my car will have free surpercharging and he was going to apply the code the following day... I saved that VM.

Then when I got a call to schedule the delivery date, I also mentioned the entire thing. She then sent me the email of my delivery specialist.

I forwarded the email chain I had with the test drive guy to the delivery specialist.

A few days later I got a call from the delivery specialist to go over some details of the order, the usual stuff. She then asked if I had any questions.

That is when I brought up the entire supercharger referrals situation. She had not seen my email. She looked for it, then told me that she was going to open a case.

And that lead to today's email confirming that my car will definitely have supercharger access thru the referral program even though I didn't originally used the url when I placed the order.

Hope this helps..

Since I hadn't heard anything since the scheduling person set me up for home delivery on 9/27, I decided to call my local delivery center hoping I would be on their schedule and to get more info (like a VIN). Sure enough, they confirmed everything was good for next week and gave me my VIN! The delivery center person was extremely helpful and answered all my questions.

They also were able to tell me my trade-in value even though it still says "pending" on my account profile. Apparently they needed a scanned copy of my title before they could officially give me a price. It would have been nice for Tesla to contact me about that, otherwise I would have been waiting till the last minute.

Bay Area resident here.

Went for a test drive on September 8 (Saturday) - immediately placed an order for a MSM LR.

On September 10, Monday morning - got a call from Tesla to schedule a pickup for any time after September 17th.

Originally scheduled it for home delivery on September 19th, a Weds.

On September 15th, I asked Tesla to change the color of my order to pearl white. Was told there would be a delay in my order - ended up getting a final date of September 20, this Thursday (pickup requested at Fremont Delivery Center)!

If anyone’s wondering: I am financing the vehicle through Tesla and performing a trade in for a rather new BMW as well. Didn’t seem to impact me too much!
