could it be a rear view camera implemented on the rear view mirror? like Chevy Bolt?

It could just be a green light.

Many EV's have a charging status indicator visible through the front windshield. Maybe putting one on the mirror was easier for wiring?

Otherwise it clearly has to be a first of it's kind Autonomous Vehicle to Meatbag communication device. Instead of the you go/I go wave at 4 way intersections, the Model 3 when on Autopilot has a green or red light illuminating the cabin which is visible to manual Drivers and Peds

The charging port don't have any LED light indicator

so the LED have been moved to the mirror!!!!
