LOL, these cops need to learn more about the cars that are out there:

I don't agree. The cop was totally in his right to pull him over on safety worries, but he also realized his error and apologized! Cops have enough to worry about besides learning about the latest Tesla. Glad the driver was calm and didn't escalate the situation.
kind-of. V9 only records front facing camera. We will all have the opportunity to record cops and everyone in version 9.
Why pick on Chicago? Anyways - you get pulled over, you talk to the cop for a minute, you go on your way. That cop will talk to his whole station probably about the super cool car he accidentally pulled over.I don't agree.
Can you imagine how many times someone would get pulled over in Chicago?

For reasons I don't care to mention.....I can't just talk to a cop in Chicago.
As a former cop (long time ago - ‘95-‘00 in Denver) nothing wrong with pulling someone over to talk to them if you have probable cause. This guy thought he did, and once he realized he was wrong let him go. I think it was handled great by both involved.
What would have been the probable cause here?
lol....ok.I don't know, maybe a computer on his dashboard. Police officers are allowed to be wrong, and not required to know every make and model of a cars interior. He saw a potential danger to other drivers and himself when he saw something he recognized at a passing glance as a computer on a drivers dashboard area. He pulled the driver over. Many states have laws about distracted driving and items in cars dashboard area or hanging from car rear view mirrors.
The officer was quite cordial as was the driver.
As he said, you can’t have a computer mounted to your dash. I don’t know the laws in this jurisdiction, but he seemed genuine in his reason for a stop. Once he realized it was part of the car, it was over. What would have been the probable cause here?

Seems no harm no foul to me.
Don’t want to turn this into a pro or con Cop discussion, but you couldn’t pay me enough (or pay me the low wage they make) to do that job today. You have the choice to do your job and get beat up for it, or don’t do your job and get beat up for it. Like them or hate them, they can’t seem to Win for losing anymore. Yes, bad cops all over the place. But plenty of good ones that just mean well.
Sorry, maybe sore subject for me. I hate when people generalize and think all cops are out to mess with people. Some are, a lot aren’t. This guy seemed like he was a good guy.lol....ok.
I'll drop it. I don't want the thread to get derailed.
