My son picked up a 2023 M3P in June. I have a Sept 19 M3LR. The interior noises in the 2023 are horrific compared to my 19M3 with 90K miles. We are going to go over it when he gets back home to try and quiet some of this plastic on plastic (fantastic) I was shocked at how many creaks and rattles there are at 6K miles...just looking for other examples. Did we simply get a built on Friday car?

Interesting.

I have come to the same conclusion. Something has happened. I've recently gone on many Model 3 test drives and its certainly louder. The bumps are certianly louder.

i was under the impression that the film on the windows would quiet down the outside noise, however I haven't found that to be true. Then 3 monts ago - after escorting many people on test drives out of our Westmont Il store....the tires have changed.

My Hankook EVO ION's and my OEM Michelin PS4s are the quietest tires I've ever had on any car I've owned, and I've gotten used to them. The Hankooks are the best out of the 2.
Anyway...I had the tech swap out my tires on a new M3P and it was like night and day. I can't imagine being on "non foam" tires ever again. I also put the lightest tint on my car which probably matches (or is a little thicker than the OEM year 23 film) the year 23 version, so that helps my car a lot as well.
The other thing I did was make sure every door on my car had double rubber seal all the way around. That was a tremendous help also.,

But after swapping the tires/rims on the 23...the rattles were still there. There are consistent squeaks coming from the glove compartment/wheel wells/and something in the rear of the center console of all of the 23's. I'm going to ask a tech where all of these noises are coming from. I've just never thought to ask. I normally sit in the back during demo presentations and hold my hand on the console. That seems to eliminate the console squeaks and rattles.

Oh well, I hope the highland is better in this department.

The majority of cabin noise is from the tires through the body of the car. The sound insulated windows were an unnoticeable change for me also. I noticed no real difference in sound when driving. I swear my 2020 stereo sounds better though.

I just rented a M3 standard range from Hertz for an extended trip through New England. Not sure, but based on the mileage (20,000) probably a 2022. I have a Nov. 2018 M3 Long Range (38,000 miles).
Difference was surprising. Although the Hertz was unloved in that way that all rental cars are, the difference was surprising. Ride was far better - mine feels more nimble, but the ride is often harsh, bouncy and loud over bumps, Hertz felt much more stable and solid (both had 19" wheels). Hertz was markedly quieter and the doors and trunk felt far more heavy and solid, closing with a substantial feeling rather than the tinny noise my 2018 makes. Front seats in the Hertz were noticeably narrower, though. Multiple squeaks and buzzes produced from my back seat hinges and the dash were absent in the Hertz. ALways nice and quiet.
I grew to really like the powered trunk lid - although I don't know that it's worth the $800 Tesla asks for installation of powered trunk on older models like mine.
Hertz standard range was noticeably slower than my long range, even though both are one-motor rear wheel drive.
So, while I have no plan on trading in my 2018 ("paid for" is the best feature in any car), if I had to get a new one I think I would gladly get an updated M3.

Gotta say, for the “automatic“ trunk/frunk situation, I went with the upgraded shocks back in 2019 and I love it! $75 and a few minutes of my time, and I never looked back! Hit the trunk or frunk button (or call it out on my Apple Watch), and it pops open nicely!

For sure, I’ve got to manually close and my wife’s 23 Model Y with powered setup (trunk only of course) is nicer. But for $800? I’ll take my setup any day.
