I don't want to cause alarm here, but my wife just got off the phone with Nick at customer service about trouble she's having with charging. He thinks it's the cord and said he would contact Barry about mailing us a replacement cord. I'll let you know how this turns out.

Yes, picked her up yesterday at noon. It was great to meet the guys. I LOVE my MS! I am particularly fond of the seats. I got the fabric, but they're actually more leather that fabric. So I got the best of both worlds: the smell and fell of leather and the moisture absorption of fabric. Momi Kea has a range of 145 miles, which is more than adequate for my needs. I spent the afternoon running errands and dropping in on friends who have been waiting for her arrival. I took my first son (Eli -16) out for a ride and blew his socks off. Then took his twin brother, Nate, out. Nate has his license, so he got to drive her. We cruised over to Lanikai to pick up a couple of his school buddies and then cruised around Kailua. We turned so many heads and got several thumbs up! Drove over to the boat ramp at Kailua beach park to take a couple of photos and we had a guy walk up and thank us for going green! Great day!

For all those interested in Xpel, here's the response I received to my email inquiry from the local installer:

Thank you for making contact with us. We will actually be attending the training in late July rather than early July. We will be back on the last couple of days of July and should be operational by mid August. To expedite the installation on cars, we are looking for a more suitable location. We are thinking a drive up storage unit just to start out until I can find a place where I can build a clean room for the installs and high end details. A storage unit is a good place to start because they are small and easy to control airflow and dust. We will keep you posted on the status of that. We are very excited to bring this new product to Hawaii as well as the newest technology in paint and interior sealants from Europe. Please feel free to contact me at anytime by email or by phone (808) 954-1600. By the way, I love the car.

Leeward, That is so so cool. Last at night, long after dark, when most people are heading to bed, I have a hankering to slide in behind the wheel and cruise around Kaneohe, with no particular place to go.

So, now the wait is behind you. Was it worth the wait? Can you even remember waiting? (I am trying to help nanimac and jatk with their wait. They are understandably, not happy about their wait. I tried to put a positive spin on the emotions of their wait. But I didn't hear back from either one, hint-hint, so I guess they were not fond of my effort. I hope they didn't think I was teasing them or gloating or something.

Leeward, tell us more. Did ya put your foot to the floor yet?

Oh yeah! The on ramp at H-3 at the top of Mokapu Blvd. is a perfect place to do that. I tried, then tried with me son, Eli. That's when I blew his socks off! Then tried it with Nate and his friends, and then let Nate peel out...figure it's better if under parental supervision! He's now driving Mom's 2002 Dodge Caravan...so there's no chance to lay down rubber there! ha!

i don't know how I'm going to get any work done today. I just keep coming up with more errands I need to run!

OK, I take it all back -- DS and service center rock! Picked up our blue beauty yesterday, and now have that Tesla grin permanently glued to my face.

Writing to see if anyone else has had not-so-good experiences with "Delivery Specialist" (Robert). It's been like pulling teeth to get updates.

Let me preface everything by saying I am indeed aware of the large shipment of Model S that has come in, how overworked the service center is. I'm guessing the shipment is mostly the remaining 40 kwh Model S (mine included), as it seems ideal for us here on Oahu. More background, a timeline of events so far:

- Balance paid in full almost a full month ago, on 5/14, when delivery process started
- EOL given as 5/25
- Model S left CA week ending 5/31
- Model S arrived on Oahu midweek last week
- Delivery window was presented to me by DS last Tues 6/4
- Same day -- 6/4 -- I gave him back 3 prioritized options and DS stated he'd let me know by end of week [Fri 6/7]
- With no updates yet from DS by 2pm Hawaii time on Fri 6/7, I have to ping him to check if there are any updates since it's the "end of the week" (5pm CA time)
- 7pm Fri 6/7 rolls around , I receive an email from DS along lines of "Please send 3 prioritized dates + times within delivery window..." (which I already did back on Tues)
- I respond immediately with same 3 dates
- Monday 6/10 afternoon rolls around, with no response yet from my DS, so I again have to ping "Any updates...?"
- Response: "No sooner than Friday" OK, now we're getting somewhere; at least a response with a date mentioned as a reference point

And then this happens yesterday: I get a call from DS saying my Model S is actually ready earlier than expected and available for pick up at the service center, we schedule a time in the afternoon. The big day has arrived!!! I notify my wife, she shifts her schedule around etc. We're literally headed out the door with temp registration, etc. in hand to get our Model S, and I get a call on my cell from the service center saying "There's been a mixup, your car isn't ready." !!! Not service center's fault, what can you do. Then an hour+ later a call from my DS apologizing, and on top of it all he's still unable to nail down a delivery date/time.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't mind waiting a few extra days (though I do have a ProTint appointment that is now in danger of having to be moved), I've waited this long as it is. What I do mind is the terrible customer service where I'm the one always pulling for updates and then getting jerked around.

So what exactly does the DS "specialize" in besides talking to the service center and scheduling pickups? Because they're not really doing their job well at all. At least mine isn't. [/vent]

HawaiiKaiGuy, So, life is good after all. huh? Now you see why we didn't add fuel to your venting the other day? We were on your side, but you were so so close to getting your baby, that it would really not have made you feel any better if we had fussed with you. I hope you understand. Okay, questions for you. What is the car's name? What was the first song you played as you hit the go pedal? Give us pictures. Tell us more. Tell us about the car. And we do understand how you feel when you say, "I take it all back".

Lee, Go out to you to Auntie and put your ear to her window. I bet you hear this. "Leee, oh Leeeeee, come onnn, let's go for a ride. Wwwhhrrilll, I am ready, let's gooooo". How can you resist that?

She doesn't have a name yet, but by now our kids (1, 3) probably think the name is "DON'T TOUCH THE PAINT!" Will try and post a few pictures later today. First song I played: "Flash" by Queen (hey Flash, that may have to be her name!); first song my son asked for when I picked him up from school right from the service center: "Heroes and Villains" by Beach Boys. (his reaction "This is so cool, Daddy! Wow it's a race car!!" as he rode in the rear-facing seats)

Thanks to whoever put together the list of "how to register your car" that they are now distributing at the service center. How long does it take to go and do that? Doable in 1 day, or should I plan to do it during lunchtimes across a week?

How long does it take to walk through the registration process?

Hawaiikaiguy, If you are certain you have every item of paperwork, to include your Bill of Sale is signed by TM and notarized, it can be done in a day. Of course you must coordinate your Safety Inspection. That could be fast or take half a day, you probably have war stories to tell about that, like the rest of us. We think the best time to hit Dept of Tax is before lunch. And after lunch at the DMV. Some DMV as you know are crowded, so it might pay to go to another if one is busy. So far we hear that Hawaii Kai's DMV moves fast and knows about Tesla's. Whatever happens, be sure to share your registration experience, its everyone's contribution that powers the forum.

That's funny, about the "Don't touch the paint". Get a cap or t-shirt that says that.

I appreciated the visualization Akikiki . . . just forgot to respond. Thanks. It did help and in no way did I think you were teasing or gloating. I try to take myself to that happy place when I'm frustrated that my car is sitting at a service center and going nowhere fast (so pretty much all day and night). I was told yesterday that I will definitely have the car by the end of the month, so I'll plan on seeing it mid-August, and anything earlier will feel like christmas came early. Nanimac is worse off than me because she has waited a long time, so I always hope to read a post indicating that she has received some well-deserved positive news.

Congrats Leeward and hawaiikaiguy!

jatk, when it comes time, if you need a ride to the SC to get your car, I'd be pleased to help, if the time is right. Right now, I must say if it falls on a Saturday for delivery, you can count on me if I can be of use. Just let me know. And thanks for the nice things you said about the visualization.

Papafox is wearing a Tesla grin these days ; )

Picked up the car at the SC, then shortly afterwards took to 2020 detailing for the glare treatment. What a joy this car is to drive!
First song: "Danger Zone", yes I accepted a recommendation on the song, but with a sidekick dog named Iceman who goes everywhere with me, this was THE song to play

I did a photo shoot this morning and posted 5 images at http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/show...-stories-photos-and-first-impressions/page113 There's some good ones.
You'll notice one photo at the Kailua boat ramp. I wanted to try something nobody else had tried, so I figured I'd surprise everyone with a boat ramp shot. Lo and behold, Leeward beat me with a boat ramp photo shoot by a day! I almost went there yesterday, and what a surprise it would be to have to wait in line behind another Tesla for a photo shoot.

Nanimac, you're going to enjoy the blue, for sure.

I've grown to really like the grey interior, even if I have to be a bit careful with it. In the tropical sun, it's a good color.

Thanks to Akikiki and the rest of you for all the helpful suggestions along the way!

Momi has about 120 miles on her tires, and a quarter mile from home, she gave me a "Car needs Servicing...call Tesla Service" flasher. I called TS and talked to Aucklin. She ran the diagnostics and concluded that its a software glitch that will get cleared up with the next upgrade. She said to just ignore it. Anyone else have this issue?

Papafox - congrats! Very beautiful.

Akikiki - thank you for the offer. I am most appreciative. Not getting excited about anything or planning until my car is on a boat, or at least at a port.

nanimac - sounds very promising. Horizon lines departs Oakland on Wednesdays and arrives in HNL on Sundays, Matson departs Oakland on Tuesdays with arrival the following Wednesday and departs Oakland on Thursdays with arrival in HNL on Saturdays (not that I've obsessively researched or anything). Here's hoping this is the last stretch for you.
