How much CO2 is 40B tons/yr? Some scale...

    Anthropogenic CO2 emissions are now ~40B tons/yr. The number is a bit difficult to comprehend... Scientific American had a recent article putting that in some context. The crazy scale of human carbon emissions.

    If you wanted to release 40B tons per year with a forest fire you would need to burn a forest this size... every year...

    Oops... no... AND add 3 more forests each the size of Australia :( This... this is insane. CARBON TAX NOW!!!!

    Side note: That's 40M sq miles... there's ~25M sq miles of forested area on Earth.

    That's a lot of CO2. My 24 panels have managed to offset a little over 25 tons (51,883.06 lb) in the last 34 months.

    Well... apparently I can't handle the metric system... it's 40M sq km... not miles... a forest 4x the size of the US.

    I helped to prevent adding 3 tons to that number by driving EV for a year.
