The chairman opened his remarks with a pointed jab at the 'incivility of Tesla owners' who contacted him this week concerning HB1254. I guess that tells you where his sympathies lie...
How dare those pesky Tesla owners try to stop a bill that would give advantage to GM and the local auto dealer cartel. Don't they remember "what's good for GM is good for America"?

Regarding Mahan:
"Incumbent Kevin A. Mahan was unopposed in the Republican primary and was unchallenged in the general election." Kevin Mahan - Ballotpedia
I can't imagine these elections are expensive to fund. Really the only way to change this behavior is to select someone like this and fund a challenger (and win). Do this a few times and they'll be less stupid with the bills they sponsor.
Just imagine the 'uncivil' comments he would receive from the GM folks if he sided with Tesla on this issue. The 'uncivil' street runs two ways. He just happens to be driving in one direction.

DSM, I'm originally from Indiana, and I can tell you without a doubt that you can forget about that ever happening. The Klan (remember those guys?) were literally running the State in the 1920's:
Tesla's statement said they were looking forward to "open public discussion" during the Indiana summer study. I will find out how the public can watch and/or participate in this study and post it here. Educating our lawmakers, or even just letting them know we are paying close attention, will surely help.
"That, or Tesla would need to make arrangements with franchised dealerships to sell their cars (in Michigan) — a move that appears to be taking shape now."
I think the reporter is misinformed on this point about MI.
