Instead of a recap, I'm going to "live blog" my CPO experience here and will update as things happen

Jana called me Friday and she was super pleasant to speak with. I’m certainly not going to say she’s been bad at all. She just doesn’t reply to emails and you can’t call her because her vm is full. All good, I just want my wheels.

I won't say she's not pleasant, as she's typically sweet when she's on the phone (we did have a bit of a nasty conversation once, but it was needed), but the shear fact of how difficult it is to get hold of her isn't really acceptable.

They are trying to break me. Both of my emails from Monday have gone with no response at all from Jana or my sales guy. My bank hasn’t gotten any of the info they’ve requested so I have to do another loan app in a week or two as my current loan app will now expire before I get the car.

I’m glad I read this forum ahead of time, it helps to have expected this to happen. Oh well. I’m going to call the Atlanta SC on Friday and see if the car is still in Boston. They have been so helpful and they are the only ones that have even remotely been willing to communicate with me.

I’m over it. I fully expect this go in to mid or late May and honestly could see June as it has been 17 days and my car is still on the Manhein lot with no plan for it to be picked up. Tesla makes buying a car from them a unique experience to say the least.

Ole Capt, you are a much better man than I. And have far more patience that I'd ever have. Are you starting to understand why I bailed?

Jana did tell me the car had reached the delivery center but like you my Credit Union was unable to even obtain a copy of the sales order detailing the exact amount due.

Jana did send me a very nice and apologetic email in reply to my email cancelling the order and demanding a refund of my down payment. My primary reason for cancelling was the fear of losing it if after all the frustration of the sales process the car turned out to be unacceptable and I had to refuse delivery. I might have waited it out if I could have talked to someone who had eyes on the car.

4 days after I emailed Jana cancelling the order with Tesla I look delivery of my 75D in Denver.

honestly, had I not read this forum and known that there would be issues, I'd be on my way to California to beat someones ass right now. I have a very short fuse with stuff like this but I knew this was a probability so I was prepared. I want the car and now I know that I am going to have to wait. I've watched every youtube video and read every article and blog on this car. I also installed my wall charger, got some new LED interior lights in, and got some 19" wheels / tires delivered, so if nothing else, it gave me time to get all my crap done. Now I just really hope I can have it by mid May. That would probably be a win.

Reading so much of this kind of stuff is the main reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a used Tesla. My lease is almost up and I can't afford to pussyfoot around waiting for them to deliver a car. What is wrong with Tesla management? Do they realize how many people buy elsewhere because of all this kind of stuff? Can't see or drive the car before plunking down your $2500. I really wanted a used Model S because a new one equipped the way I want is out of my price range. I may just end up going with a new Model 3 instead. Rick

Ok, little update. I emailed on Monday saying that I would happily fly to Boston to get the car asking if that was an option, that email never got a response. Wednesday night I just got fed up an emailed Jana telling her that I was not happy with the lack of communication. To her credit, she immediately called and emailed me and apologized.

Got an email today (Thursday 4/25) from Jana stating that the car is officially in transit and that I would receive an update tomorrow. Finally, after almost 3 weeks, the car has left the Manheim lot.

Good luck Ole Capt!
I placed my order on 4/20 Sat afternoon. 2015 MS 85D.
Got the generic email from Steven & Wing, who are my assigned delivery team.
On Tue, 4/22, I asked about the pick-up location, and learned that they closed the Fremont delivery HUB center to the public, so Wing mentioned they'll drive the car to my place.
I emailed and left voice mail on 4/23 to ask for status as I need to plan the upcoming weekend...should I stay home or attend weekend activities. No one responded...I had to call the sales person, Joseph, super nice, to help me to get in touch with Wing.
Let's see if I'll also have some luck tomorrow or Saturday!

if you just allow yourself an extra month to make your transaction happen, from pulling the trigger on the "One for you" to the day you get it in your hands, you will always be happy if it happens sooner. If you find a car in NY, NJ or MA you will be sure to get it soon then say a car from CA. There are many things Pre own buyers put up with from Tesla we would NEVER put up from anyone else and Tesla can get away with it today, NEXT year then 10-15 new 250+ range electric cars will be out there will yet to be seen. Tesla Needs a Vice President of Pre owned sales to put this program in order. When its in your drive way you will be "F*k Ya!!" Even if you had to take out a rental car waiting your wait should only be 30 days. Mine was Ordered to picked up 20 Days, but I flew down to pick it up and drove it home.

Good luck Ole Capt!

Good luck...I have the same car. 6 months later, still have the new car smell, and am amazed every time I get in it.

Hope you have a good delivery, please post results...

I would caution against having them delivering to your home for 1 big reason.. During my day of delivery there were 6-7 things that were not shown in the pictures that I needed them to fix before I can accept delivery. At their center, maybe not all centers, but the one in Costa Mesa California they could take it back and had them fixed on the spot while I waited. I didn't accept delivery until it was fixed to my satisfaction. A home delivery I assume you would have to take it as is, or they would have to take it to another shop to try to fix it first?

I took a good flashlight with me to the center and took my time, despite the sales person "gently" pushing me along. It's been 2 weeks since I accepted delivery and I haven't noticed anything cosmetically wrong that I didn't on the day of delivery.

I'm very curious to see how the experience differs with deliveries to home.

They did offer me this option since I live near the center, but I wanted to make sure they will fix everything they could, and the car was in a satisfactory condition to me, before I sign anything. They did have to put something on a "due bill" which were rim rashes that they couldn't fix that day, but promised that it would be for free later. In a week I mentioned it again and they forgot about it.. good thing I made sure to email them right after I got the car and had them agree that it would be no cost to me in writing in an email.

Good luck Ole Capt!

Interesting. I pulled the trigger on 4/19 and my car is coming out of the Fremont facility as well. I was told on 4/23 a delivery specialist would meet me at a 3rd party location because the Fremont location doesn't allow public access as well. Haven't heard from any delivery specialist yet though. Still waiting for them to upload the purchase agreement for my CU too.

Just spoke to Atlanta and the ETA to their facility is tomorrow 4/27. IF that happens I would assume I’ll be getting the car next week but Tesla...

Also, when I decided on this car I noticed it had the bike rack bars on top. I specifically asked my sales guy prior to placing my deposit if they could be removed. He assured me they could and that the SC would take care of it. The guy in Atlanta just said they could if the key to the rack is with the car. Here we go lol

If they have the key and remove it make sure they put in the cargo area. If you don't want it sell it on TMC.

good point, but if it was me, I would use the "Home field" advantage to have good lighting, and inspection tools to better inspect the car, and take my time about it.

no dont...

because they wont just take it back if your not happy with it with a home delivery.
You will still be charged that delivery.
They wont leave the car with you unless you sign acceptance, and when you do, thats it...
They will say YOU did it, the car was perfect and immaculate.

Also if you think presale service is this bad.... well, post sales is several times worse on an exponential scale. Especially on a CPO car.

Goto the distrubution center, which is most likely Marina Del Ray.

Take a flashlight, and also take a ruler.
Use the flashlight to determine blemishes in paint so you can inspect if its been in an accident they didnt disclose about.
Use the ruler to determine how much the panels are not even or flushed.

Do not take the keys or sign acceptance of delivery for ANYTHING until you are satisified, and you have in writing or some form of proof they will correct what needs to be corrected.

Because if and when you do, thats it.
You will be in service center hell, and eventually pinged down in the system so far, that they will later say they have no record of anything you are saying.

This happened to a friend of mine who also went though the CPO nightmare in hell, and it completely killed him with Tesla, and future Tesla's.

I love the car, i hate the company it stands behind, as well as 70% of the people who work for the company as well.
They have no clue on how to give service for a car so expensive, and treat it like a typical Chinese Amazon vendor.

Update
Calling my sales representative helped. The delivery person called me in the morning to schedule home delivery tomorrow morning. Very exciting, but at the same time, I have now seen so many negatives, I'll be very careful during inspection . I have to tell myself that I might not have the car tomorrow if to many surprises.

Update:
Tesla delivered the car this morning as scheduled. I went thru all kinds of inspection inside my garage.
Right the way spotted oxidization of the passenger side headlight cover, asked him if they can help. Another quick check was a small rock chip on the windshield, and is already showing horizontal crack, in front of driver side. He also reported back on the spot. 5 minutes later, they responded will replace the windshield and clear up the oxidized headlight cover.
There were minor rock chip and paint chip. Nothing major.
I would say overall, very good delivery! Jon was my guy, he provided very good service.

Good luck to all others who are patiently waiting for theirs
