Invite Email: Will Tesla text instead if account preference is SMS?

For those that have gotten to configure, and have received notification of the ability to do so (I understand some never received one notification); Was it an email even if you've selected SMS as your communication preference in your account settings? Or is that for something different, and configuration invites are email-only?

I haven’t seen any reports of people receiving invites via SMS.

Probably because these invitations are managed by a third party and only do e-mail. The SMS option would be only for in-house communication, I assume.

You will just have to religiously check your tesla account page...I still haven't received an email even though I could configure on 2/14/2018.

I had not understood that they were outsourcing it like that, thanks for the info!

Yeah, I was hoping to cling to at least a shred of dignity rather than feeling like a lovestruck teen spending evenings fretting on a phone that never rings, practicing "spring into action" when the chance arrives.
