Elon Musk will be a keynote speaker at the Dell World technology conference in Austin this week. If Texas had a law banning direct sales of computers as they do for cars, Dell would never have never taken off. Fortunately the dealers who sold IBM or other PCs didn't have a powerful cartel as the auto dealers do. I hope he makes this connection in his speech! Texas legislators, are you listening?

Things he mentioned:

1. TMs early estimates were that they would sell/produce 400 cars/wk at this time and that was their battery requirement/deal with Panasonic. With increased demand over that estimate Panasonic was able to ramp up battery production to support the 600/week production...a 50% increase at this time.

2. The battery constraint issue should be lifted by 'mid next year' or' during Q2 2014'.

3. SuperChargers are currently being put online at the rate of one every 2-3 days (worldwide)

The journalist who was interviewing Elon and Michael was really, really sharp and on top of things. Not only did he know what he was talking about, but he tried to give Elon the chance to really expound and enthuse on the 'physics principles' approach to engineering. Elon didn't really want to go with it, but damn, the journalist kept trying.
Good session! Good information!
