So you paid 2020 prices for a 2018 car?
Not sure how $45,430 is 2020 price especially considering I can't get an LR RWD Model 3 today? Curious, how much would you have paid for this car?

Not trying to not pick or take away from the car but I wouldn’t have purchased it. It’s a 2 year old car. I would have gone for the 2020 dual motor for a little more money.

I think a lot depends on how you value the red paint upgrade. If you wanted a red car and would be willing to pay an extra $2,000 on a new car to get the red paint then it becomes a nice deal. If you really wanted a white car but settled for red then it’s a little less enticing, since most of the $2,470 discount was absorbed by the $2,000 red paint upgrade.
We have two LR RWD cars and love them. I chose not to get the AWD because in California it doesn’t help much to have the extra traction.
I still find it odd that the car was sitting for so long though. Did Tesla ever explain what it’s been doing for the past year?
Erm...Go see how much a new 3LR with AP, Premium Interior was in the “good ol’ days” of 2018.If I were to buy a 2018 new today, I would need Tesla to reduce the vehicle price by the federal rebate that was available at the time the car was manufactured. I bought my M3 in Nov 2018 so I could cash in on the fed tax credit.
My wife loves the red but wouldn't really want to pay for it. This would be the best compromise as we basically get the color for free plus a few hundred more discount.
As for the explanation, no they haven't. No one can tell me anything about the car...nor where it is as of right now. I was supposed to take delivery today after I talked to the delivery specialist on Thursday. Yesterday evening, my account shows that delivery is now happening tentatively on Monday. I called several times today and no one can tell me where the car is nor can anyone confirm delivery. The delivery center I'm supposed to pick up from is about 20 miles from Fremont where the car was originally located.
There was a member who posted here recently about a similar vehicle scenario. When they investigated it further they discovered the car had been in an accident and Tesla had done $4,000 worth of repairs on the car without disclosing it.
If it were me, I would not take delivery of the car until Tesla explains what the car’s history was. At a minimum ask to see the service records on the car. Also keep in mind that it is rumored that the LR RWD model is coming back this Spring. Although it is just a rumor so who knows if it will really happen.
Thanks, will definitely ask more questions regarding the car and inspect it carefully if it ever arrives. I considered waiting for the return of the LR RWD but since it's not official yet, didn't want to let this go. Worst case, I let this one go and just wait again with minimal losses.
By the way, mind sharing that thread regarding the accident?

I’m guessing you are not completely surprised by this? We knew there was a story behind that car. You don’t just have a two year old car with less than 200 miles sitting around and then just suddenly decide to put it up for sale one day. They usually send their returns to auction so they may not be planning on selling the car to a retail buyer at this point.
I actually am pretty surprised to be honest. It's not like there is a way to identify an individual vehicle and be able to check if a car is supposed to be titled or not...it also is surprising that it came up to this point meaning there aren't any checks or gates or validations they put in.
