I used the term night vision very loosely btw. If an infrared light is involved, it's really thermal imaging. True night vision cameras work to enhance the little light that's there, intensifying it. My home security cam does both. It gives me a pretty good color image of my yard at night, making it seem almost like low daylight, vs the photo negative type image you see with infrared.
