Manual door release - OK to use? How to avoid?

My passengers always seem to use the manual door release, although I have pointed out the correct button. Is there a problem with using the manual release, and if so how to direct them to the correct button?

You can damage the linkage in the doors and subsequent trim (window not dropping in time)using the manual release (Tesla says).

They make stickers that say door open or have the picture of the car with the open door on it to help.

Or just tell them to use the button before the trip is over however annoying that may seem.

After reading reports of the damage to the trim from using this and the warning at pickup from the Tesla employee I always take a little extra time before letting myself out of the car out of paranoia. I've seen some aftermarket overlays to put on the button showing the open door. Door Release Buttons for Model Y (set of 4)

Get the stickers from Abstract Ocean. They come in different colors. I always do a “preflight” with new passengers and show them how to properly open the door.
