MCU1 Instrument cluster question

Is the instrument cluster in an MCU1 Model S linked or paired to the MCU? I have a 2015 P85D.
Reason I ask is this week I noticed my IC is starting to get some bubbles in it. If it’s not linked or paired to the MCU then I will simply buy a good used one and install it and then do a firmware redeployment.

With MCU1 the IC is sepatare unit whereas with MCU2 it’s one system and IC is shearing data and power from main unit.
