Model S Delivery Dates and Sequencing

Got another call from my DS today, he said they will be able to hit my delivery window, despite what the other DS said yesterday. Let's see....only 10 days left for the close of my delivery window.

If it helps, I got my VIN Jan 30(I called each day at start of window) and my car reached the Chicago service center today. If VIN is issued at entry on the line then it took about 4 days to build.

Waiting to hear something

I got a call this morning from Jamee in Rockville, arranging me to pick up my car in Rockville this Saturday, Feb. 9th, at 4 PM! She e-mailed a confirmation, copying my "Personal Delivery Experience Specialist," Jacob.

Yes, an official delivery date and time! :-D

Wohoo! Congrats - Let me know how the pickup experience is - I am having a home delivery. I wonder how many Model S were in this same delivery as yours and mine?

Will do. I had asked for home delivery, though Andy said he'd try. Jamee said nothing about it on the phone, but one of her first Qs was whether I could come to pick it up in Rockville, and I'm betting from other comments around here that "no" would've delayed things. Plus I'm starting to get nervous about home delivery anyway, although originally the whole home-delivery-white-glove thing was exciting to me. ;-) So I think I'm happy with the pick-up instead. /ramble

Ahem. I'll let ya know. ;-)

Instead of waiting for home delivery, I will pick up my car at Chicago SC this Saturday. This will allow me the full delivery experience as well as a 275 mile road trip back to Michigan. Just a little (range anxiety) nervous about figuring where to stop for an hour or 2 on the journey home. I can't wait until we have a supercharger or 2 in Michigan.

Please let us know how it goes. I'm thinking of doing this too if Columbus OH isn't open before my car is ready. One stop also. Thinking about ChargePoint at the mall in Lafayette.

Al,
i have the 14-50 outlet installed and working at Monical's Pizza in Watseka, Il. You are welcome to use it if you want to run down I-57 and across US 24 on your way home.
Dennis

Very kind and generous as always Dennis. Thanks. It'd probably be cheaper too. With the exception of the large pepperoni with mushrooms and extra cheese. The forums seem to be buzzing with some intel about the Columbus SS being open within 2 weeks. So, maybe I'll pick up there unless the car comes way early which I doubt. DO you own the Monical's in Woodruff WI?We eat there a lot when at our "secret hideaway" in the Northwoods.

@kendallpb: I am York, PA so I could drive down 2 hours and pick it up but hoping for a smooth delivery. Did you get the paint armor? I did and that delays 72 hours for it to be put on at the Rockville, MD service center after the car arrives.

You called EACH day?

:)

Man, you must have been driving those people nuts... :)

I have not talked to a single person including making my reservation and finalizing.

The car will be ready when its ready.

I don't think calling every day will change a thing.

I wonder if the activity heating up in the Columbus service center is why I haven't heard anything about my potential delivery. Delivery window ends tomorrow, P85, P7304 and still no VIN despite calls and emails. Fingers crossed...I think I'll drive by the location to see if there are any cars in the lot...

You called EACH day?.

OK, morning, noon and night after the window. Daily before that. Ha. It does change things I think because they don't talk amongst themselves so things tend to sit in purgatory until someone goes to find it. If you're not financing or relying on anything from them then yes, it does not matter. Otherwise, gentle prodding makes them look up your stuff so you can get going on it in a timely manner. If they don't look, they don't tell you what you need to know until it's "oh look. This car has been sitting ready. Who's is it?"
