Yep, I heard from my DS for the first time today too. My appointment is 7/23 at 10am. He's going over the options, like "You could come in at 10, 11, 12... we have some appointments the following day.." and I was like "Uh... actually 10am would be great!".
When they called me to schedule he said they were wide open that day, so I asked "what time do you open?". He said 9:00am so I said, "see you at 8:30!”.

So I have been in my baby Tesla "The Falcon" for a little over a week now. I took it over to Kevin at Gotham Autoworks in Danbury, Connecticut, at the recommendation of two other forum members, Aaron and RetinaDoc. I had them perform a "new car service," and I am very pleased with how much glossier, richer, and luscious the paint looks. The interior benefited as well, as they softened the leather in the seats.

I ordered on May 28 without having a test drive. I let the two week window expire while I did take a test drive and settled on my color choices (Blue and Tan with Lacewood). I also purchased the tech package, jumpseats (the kids love 'em), and upgraded stereo, but no pano roof. I am pleased with all these choices. The Lacewood seems an uncommon choice, from my reading the forums. It has a "raw wood" feel to it, dry, and natural without varnish.

Well the arrival story was suspenseful with a surprise twist and a happy ending. My order went "to factory" on June 11, and I received my VIN right away. The delivery date posted was last two weeks of July. Then I phoned on June 24 to check on the status of things and the agent on the phone said the system reported my car was on the line and would reach the "end of the line" on June 28. Wow! I phoned my delivery specialist, who had to give me the bad news that the system was reporting incorrectly, and I would see my Tesla the last two weeks of July, as originally stated. Then, June 24 I get a call telling me the car is on a truck headed east! I raced to finalize finances and insurance for a delivery on July 5. Unfortunately, the service center had no time to show me the car on that day, and I would have to wait until the next week, Tuesday July 9 at the earliest. My work schedule meant I could not go there until Saturday the 13th. Then, the DS suggested I have it delivered to me, since I am a two hour drive from the service center in Watertown, Massachusetts. OK! It could be delivered on Friday, July 5 after all. I left several messages for him on Wednesday, July 3, asking him to confirm the delivery, and waited all day with no return call. Finally he reached me at 7 pm and said he could have it brought by that night, if I wished. Did I! I watched it travel the turnpike on my ipod. I had to promise not to honk the horn, lest I frighten the driver. It arrived at 11:30 pm. I didn't even have to sign for it. I have been on cloud nine, taking all of my friends around, and the kids around, and having my wife drive me around, too.

What impresses me the most is the solid, smooth quality of the ride. It drives like butter. That's right. Butter.

Here are some pics.

So, I'm a little annoyed.

VIN14618. Ordered June 1, confirmed June 4, entered production June 18. I got an email from the DS on June 26 (a Wednesday) saying it was ready for shipment, and if I could get the docs signed and final payment to them it would ship before the weekend. My delivery window was narrowed to July 6-10. I got payment to them the next day.

That was over a week ago, and the DS is still telling me the car hasn't completed production and has not shipped. I live on the East coast, so the possibility of hitting the 10th seems slim. I've been able to see the car listed in the Tesla API since about June 27. I'm thinking they found an issue in QA and are fixing something.

I'm annoyed that I was rushed to send final payment and now I'm waiting with the DS not giving me any details as to what the delay is all about. I have all the docs, certificate of origin, temp registration, etc. But no car, no money, and no delivery date.

Update on this one. Seems my delays were caused by the week long shutdown that happened at the beginning on July. My car is now in transit and scheduled to arrive on July 15.

I now have a new DS, which as been nice. I don't know why they switched me, but I'm glad because the first one wan't especially good at communicating.

Blue Girl; Still see you have that Tesla 'grin' going  hope you are well...know you are enjoying the S
Still loving it, can't bring myself to drive my Genesis even to the grocery store. And I haven't had any of the issues I've read about, so nothing to dampen my fun! Got nearly 3,000 miles on her since May. Now I'm thinking about buying one down the road for my bf.... maybe he gets Gen III. Guess I just need to sell my other car and be done with it!

How are you doing with yours? How much trouble are you causing out there?

My car finished up at Fremont yesterday and is arriving at the Costa Mesa service center today. I asked my DS if I could possibly pick it up earlier than my scheduled Tuesday appointment and he said that there aren't any openings available... well actually he said "I would LOVE to deliver your Model S tomorrow/this weekend; however, we don’t have any openings. If anything opens up you will be the first to know", which was very polite and considerate and understanding.

Oh well - I waited a month. I guess that I can wait a few days, though I might just "stop by" on my way home from work to visit my car.

Sorry for delay in answering. NO issues. I have been reading with great interest about problems with premature/excessive tire wear. I have about 1,800 miles on the car and still volunteer to get the dry cleaning, dog food, grocery shopping. My wife is quite enjoying my new found shopping enthusiasm. My daughter, who just passed driver's ed. is wondering when she gets to drive the car (do the words when he!! freezes over sound too stern?) Glad to hear you are enjoying your blue magic carpet! Al

I've been calling my DS every day practically since I finalized my order on the 1st. After trying him 3-4 times today and getting his voicemail, I decided to try once more just now. He finally answered, instantly recognizing my voice, and said there's no update yet. He is generally very courteous and hasn't given me any tone or attitude for calling so much, I think he genuinely knows how excited I am.

Anyway, he says, Oh wait a second, it's now in Body and White. I asked what that was, he said generally once the car is assembled from the outside shell portion, the next step is body and paint which is typically a one day process but can take up to two days. He said +/- a day or two, it takes 3 days to build the car from start to finish, seeing as this is day 1, the car could be done Monday or sooner. That's the best case scenario which has me getting the car next Wednesday the 24th or Thursday the 25th. Worst case would be getting it Monday the 29th (barring any massive issues).

So I finally got an update! I'm so excited to be on the home stretch. I've just been waiting every day to see something change from my deposit status to in production. With some luck, I could be driving my new car this time next week.

I hope all of you guys that are waiting for your cars get your updates soon!

I visited my car yesterday.

I drove over to the Costa Mesa service center, parked on the street, then just started walking around checking out all the black Model Ss with 19"s. It was pretty cool to see >30 Model Ss all in the same place. Even though I think I still would have chosen black, it would have been a good idea to go by the service center to check out all the different colors before ordering. That dolphin gray is a really nice color that just didn't show well in the dark parking garage when I did my test drive.

I finally spot her, #1550x, parked in the back in the sun with plastic bags still over the seats and dust and compounding material (?) all over the hood. But she's there and she's mine. :)

Now I just have to wait some more (until Tuesday!) for my delivery appointment. I'm hoping someone might cancel and there might be an opening for me to pick her up sooner, but I haven't heard anything from my DS yet.

I did notice something surprising - the radio was somehow set to a Green Bay Packers "Greatest Hits" song/album. I am a huge Green Bay fan and found this setting to be an incredible coincidence, until I remembered that I had been wearing a Green Bay jacket when I did my test drive and ordered the car at the Brea store. I guess the Product Specialist who helped me made a note in my file and the factory team somehow found a Green Bay track on the radio? Does that even make sense? Did any of you find a little personal touch like that when you picked up your car?

Cool! How did you get the pic of the inside dash - did someone open it up for you? Also, I wonder what "Factory Mode" is? Energy consumption graph is high!

Our cars are very close in order timing and VIN, but mine is still in production. Unfortunately, I'll have to wait until mine floats across the Pacific before I can go spy on it!

I think that's just a coincidence. Looking at the picture, it's tuned to an FM radio station whose tagline happens to be "Bays Hit Music", referring to the SF Bay area. I see this type of thing regularly during commercial breaks - the station will stick their own id or tagline into the artist/title info, and the car winds up with some pretty odd album art results. I suspect if you'd waited a few minutes, that artwork would've changed.

That said, congrats! It's tough knowing your car is that close, and yet still out of reach. I hope the next few days go by quickly for you.

I'm guessing he used the phone app to unlock it. I'm surprised they didn't disable remote access though. Still, I'm curious what "Factory Mode" is too.

Ah, that makes sense. It's still a pretty awesome coincidence. I'm a Green Bay shareholder, number 69,000-something on the season ticket waiting list, and haven't missed watching a Green Bay game in something like seven years!

No, my phone app still reports "No vehicles linked". One of the service center techs saw me checking out the car. He said, "Hold on, you're not supposed to be back here..." and then I exclaimed happily, "That's my car! I'm taking delivery on Tuesday", and then he was like, "Oh! Let me grab the key". And he opened it so I could sit inside it.

The display had a big piece of plastic on it that said, "DO NOT USE Slacker/Radio ..." and other things on it. I'm sorry that I didn't take more pictures - I was too distracted by my excitement to realize that you all would be curious about how the car is when it first arrives at the service center to be prepped for delivery.
