Model X Snow Chains Australian Ski Fields

Apparently the standard diamond chain snow chains are not compatible with the Model X as they wrap around the back of the tyre and get caught in the suspension.
According to a snow chains fitter I spoke to the Tesla branded snow chains are illegal in Victoria as they are not diamond chains and don't wrap around the back of the tyre.

Is this correct, and if so what are the options?

Maybe TOCA or a group of users could have a loan set of snow tires. I guess it is not as convenient as chains and are they acceptable or does the regulations require chains?

Seems in VIC winter tyres are not exempted and chains must be carried (seems strange if Bjorn can drive all over Norway with them) but in NSW winter tyres on 4WD are ok so X should be ok.

It seems that in Victoria there is no option other than to risk either using an illegal chain or risk using another chain that may catch on the suspension.
In an emergency we used a V2 traction KB461 265 with the suspension in "Very High" and kept the speed below 20km/hr and it went ok.

Unless the X is different to the S then there's no problem fitting standard chains to the rear wheels. The front wheels are another matter but shouldn't be necessary.

You likely have a point, but it would be good if Tesla customer service could just simply say that.

Yes they seem to be particularly clueless in this area.
