The fender cameras are all one piece. You can gently pry the chrome piece off but Tesla doesn’t just sell that piece. You’ve gotta buy the entire fender camera which is over $100 each. Might be a while before those are available for purchase from the parts department are your local service center. And there’s no guarantee Tesla would sell them anyways unless they know you have a Model Y.
The door handles should be a possibility as well but I’ve yet to find instructions on how to remove them.
Painting chrome requires roughing it up with sandpaper or something and is essentially permanent.
Being able to swap non-chrome OEM parts (much like a wrap) leaves you able to put the car back to original if you ever wish to (or a future owner wishes to)
(that and it wouldn't shock me if a professional paint shop chrome paint over wasn't as or more expensive than buying the OEM non-chrome Y parts- but guess we'll need to wait a bit to see)
Perfect blackout or colorcode in satin, gloss, semigloss or flat finish to any chrome or other surface, regardless how 'dimensionally-challenged'. That plus calipers, wheels, most painted or unpainted automotive surfaces and soon headlights/tailights too.
Scroll through to see trim, mirror arm and door handle blackout and colorcode examples, including on Model 3s (going back to 2017).
