Model Y price reduction

Until now all AWD were software limited Performance models and the motors were the same. It is possible that from now on AWD will come with regular motors and perhaps this allows Tesla to reduce the price.

Doubt it, they are just trying to get more profit off performance like they have in the past. They did not even discount if you took off the PUP. Performance is pure profit, incremental cost of a few items and software. Unfortunately now no choice but to take the giant boat anchor wheels.

I called my SC today and they applied the current marketing package... prices updated!

Of course this means if you have Performance or FSD, you'll be paying more for those. The PUP 21 lunch wheels are the only wheels, so if you had a Performance on 19 inch Geminis, the update will force the big rims...

I have MY delivery set for 7/24. I just called dealer and they said they (with no hesitation or argument) will put in for it to be updated and it will be reflected on my "amount due" portion of my profile within 48 hours. Makes sense - no way they should cancel my order and give my car to someone else and make me wait longer. SO far, happy with this part. Still very nervous for issues upon pick-up, but that's another story
I am scheduled to take delivery of my MY on 07/21. I emailed my advisor yesterday and he emailed back and said he would submit my “case to be reviewed”. I should add I have a second MY ordered for my wife which we have not gotten a VIN assigned yet. I included this order in my request for discount. I’ll update once I get a status. Like some others here, I have no ability to “edit”.

Just checked my order page for the MY scheduled for delivery next week, and the price has been lowered by $2000! Very happy! Now I just need to have the same discount applied to my other order and we can keep that $4k!

Tesla has been aggressively trying to get me to take delivery of a Y over the past week with multiple texts and calls. It makes me wonder what the demand is like coupled with this price drop.

I think having to reorder and paying higher FSD is kind of stupid. Why pressure people to order early and lock in FSD pricing if there was no benefit to doing so.
I am scheduled for a 07/21 delivery. I emailed my advisor yesterday asking for a $2000 discount (-$3000 for MY and +$1000 for FSD), and he said he “opened a case” for my order. Today my order page has been updated to reflect a $2000 lower cost! It appears you just need to ask if you haven’t taken delivery yet.

I ordered my yesterday prior to the price drop.

I e-mailed the local rep to ask what I needed to do to take advantage of the drop.

I will let you know.

FYI, as long as you haven't paid yet, Tesla will honor the new price when you go to pay even if your current price shows as the old price. We are picking up my mothers MY next Saturday. I called Tesla this morning after learning of the price reduction and they told me within a day or two the updated pricing will be reflected in our account, over 3 grand in savings.

So I ordered on July 4th.

filled up the complete application with the financing part. LR AWD Red/ White interior.

saw the price drop today. Still don’t have a VIN number. Do I need to cancel the order and reorder again?

Super curious. Saw a lot of people on this thread say that they will honor the price and reduce the $3k.

Same here, ordered in June, made the payment, but haven’t taken the delivery yet. Look forward to seeing if Tesla would match the price drop.

First Post. Good stuff here.

I placed an order back in Feb for a LR AWD, White Exterior, Black Interior, Induction Wheels, nothing else added. Tesla has been bugging me to take delivery since March. I delayed it every month due to the pandemic lockdown we've been having in NY (Long Island). But the constant texting and calling picked up since last week to egg me to take delivery or else I will loose my VIN. I said okay, but still pushed it off and never scheduled delivery:) on a May 28th manufactured VIN in the 004xxx

Finally I caved in on Friday since I figured this month and next month is the right time to get out while NY has a low infection rate compared to everywhere else. (I am almost sure the hysteria NY experience will come back in some form in a few months based on the fact I see a ton of people itching to gather around in crowds... The hospitals were a complete mess back in March/April..)

Come Saturday, I uploaded my insurance papers, but didn't submit any balance payments or e-signed anything. Then I see my news feed light up about the $3k price drop. I immediately email my specialist and Tesla Fiance to update my numbers (got the 2.24% 60 month rate that folks got from Chase Thanks guys for the heads up:). No response at all Saturday.

Sunday (deliver day), no replies, but saw my numbers get adjusted 4 hours prior to my scheduled delivery. E-Signed 30 minutes prior to pick up.

Did the entire contactless pick up. Recorded (5) defects (slight trim alignments on non-functioning exterior only.. no paint issues) for the specialist to submit to the service department. And off I went.

Long story short. Contact Tesla prior to taking delivery. Their purchasing experience is like buying a TV from Best Buy sales rep. Pre-canned answers and comments that makes you feel like they can care less if you buy it or not.. and you can tell, they prolly just finished a dozen deliveries and want you to leave and take the car. But sure beats the all day arm wrestling with sneaky sales and finance folks at a traditional auto dealerships. Took 30 minutes with trade-in, papers, and getting my old plates back.

If anyone has been able go reach their delivery advisor and had the price decrease put on their order, can you please let us know? We are getting conflicting feedback. Thanks////
I have an order for a Long Range Model Y which I submitted about 10 days ago and had just received a VIN number. This afternoon I stopped by the Virginia Tyco Road Store and talked to a sales rep about the price reduction. I asked the rep whether I needed to cancel and then reorder to take advantage of the $3k reduction. He told me it was NOT necessary to cancel. He said Tesla would honor the discount in my order. He then put in a request on my behalf to have the price adjusted and told me I would see that reflected in my account in 48 hrs.

Hope this helps... Good luck!!!

Received my MY 3 weeks ago... I've completely enjoyed driving it but I am a little bitter about the price reduction. Your welcome, Tesla, for helping your Q2 sales.

For the LR, $3K is a material drop in price. For those of us who helped them crush their quarterly numbers, it would be respectful IMO if Tesla offered some type of perk for June deliveries, e.g., supercharging, store credit, or something like that.

HA! That would be nice but I wouldn't hold your breath. Tried asking them to honor my referral link as I ordered one day before the MY referrals were active in early June. Nothing.

Hey Gary!

Fellow Memphian here, we are about to pull the trigger on TMY. From what I can gather, you haven't taken delivery yet, do you know if you will be able to take delivery in Memphis?
