No tax savings on trade in?

I am planning to trade in an old car to Tesla but they are subtracting the trade in value AFTER the new car is taxed rather than before so I get no tax savings on the trade in. Is this supposed to be this way? All my previous trade ins at dealerships has been deducted before taxes are calculated so you'd save on the taxes on the trade in value.

Sorry, but can you double check this item? I took a look at my actual agreement, and line A said the gross cost of the item, line B said "minus any trade-in, rebate etc etc etc", and tax was calculated all the way at the bottom. So on mine, it does look like (as per normal) they took into account my trade in
