November 10 Price Changes Get Refund?

I ordered a 75D with white interior a month ago and still waiting for it to start production. With that said I found out Tesla made some price changes to the S and X today:
First of all the base prices of the base versions of Model S and Model X saw an increase while the price of the 100D versions decreased:

Model S 75D now starts at $78,000 (up $1,000 from $77,000)

Model X 75D now starts at $84,000 (up $1,000 from $83,000)

Model S 100D now starts at $96,000 (down $500 from $96,500)

Model X 100D now starts at $99,000 (down $500 from $99,500)

With those price changes, several interior options have received price changed:

Black Textile is gone from the configurator.

All black Premium interior is now the standard option

Cream and Black and White Premium interiors are now a $1,500 option (down from $3,300 previously)

So my vehicle configured today is actually $2000 cheaper than when I configured it last month. Has anyone been able to get their price adjusted before production or delivery? I know the recent Model 3 PUP becoming standard instead of a $5k upgrade, owners were offered a credit or lifetime supercharging.

Yes, if you haven't taken delivery, just call Tesla and ask for the new price.

Usually your OA or DS (DS worked for me) will get you a new MVPA with either a new price on it or a credit if they don’t want to change the actual car price. Did this for the recent 3 price changes with the MR on our LR AWD ($2K off in two weeks!).

Any changes before you take delivery should be passed on.

You were willing to pay the price agreed upon initially, why not pay what you agreed to?
I disagree with this. There are provisions for repricing cars just like there are for Tesla to change features. It is totally reasonable to do so before accepting delivery. I have never heard of Tesla refusing to roll over a deposit into a new order for someone who didn't accept delivery. Much better for everyone to renegotiate a repricing in advance since Tesla has set a precedent for it.

It is a three step process if you've already taken delivery:
1. Get Fred Lambert to write a blog post
2. Rally the twitter mob
3. Browbeat Elon until he gives in (Fred is integral to this step)

Correct. Or get the people at Tesla to quit throwing darts at the priceboard.
Soon they'll "improve" to hitting the $5000 rings on S & X too.
Elon - take their darts away!

I emailed my SA. We don't have a confirmed delivery date and the price of our configuration dropped by $2550.

I'll pay the original price worst case, but it's definitely worth asking for $2550.

$2550 will pay for my snow tire/wheel setup (from tire rack) and the ski rack. :)

My DS will be out until Tuesday, so haven’t heard from her end, but here is what my AGM had to say:

“If you wish to proceed with a new order and be locked into the new pricebook, we can cancel your current order and move your $2,500 order deposit to a new RN#. This will start the entire process from scratch. At this point, we can no longer guarantee delivery in 2018, so you would be taking a chance on the full $7,500 Federal Tax Credit.”

I’m doing a lease so will have to see if this affects my monthly payment or not as I’ve heard Tesla leasing passes the tax credit on via reduced cap cost.

When I referred to the Model 3 “free” $5k Performance Upgrade Package and Elon’s response for crediting or giving lifetime supercharging this is what was said:

“You are correct, Elon did announce that Tesla would price match the recent Model 3 price changes. In this case, we have received directive from Corporate that we will not price match.”

So, at least from the response I received the only way to adjust the price is to start a new reservation.

Hi All.. I sure hope more people jump on this thread. I just joined tonight because of this issue. A little background on me.. I have never spent more than 40K on a vehicle and have 170k miles on my current one. So spending well over 100k and joining the MX family is a huge deal for me.

I ordered in September and have a December delivery date. Instead of enjoying every minute of that delivery now what I am thinking about most is how my car just depreciated by $3,800 (500 + 3300 for my Black Premium seats) and I haven’t even paid for it yet!

To be clear.. I knew going in to this that AFTER my delivery I was no doubt subject to not having the newest or latest gadget and the technology would advance rapidly and I would just have to live with that fact.

This however doesn’t feel good and why in the world Tesla wouldn’t want me to feel anything but ecstatic on delivery day is puzzling to me??

Ironically there is even more to the story since a few days after I ordered I decided that I should have done the 100 instead of the 75 and that actually cost me an additional $500 for the privelage of Tesla getting to increase their profit margin, get another roughly 17K from me, and someone literally only had to send an email because my car was just a computer concept at that point like it stayed for the next 7 weeks.

I have never sent a tweet in my life but hopefully someone on here could convey this to Elon. He’s an incredibly intelligent and reasonable person and I have faith he will do the right thing for all of us in this position!

I also am in the same situation. We purchased a Model S in 2016. I have been saving up for the last 2 years to be able to purchase a Model X. Placed order on 9/16.

A few weeks after the purchase I received a text from an inside delivery specialist that I only noticed when I was deleting my junk texts, as this person was not in my contacts. Text was short and said my delivery was scheduled for Nov 19. I was surprised that Tesla would make contact like this. A few days later I received another test from same person saying my delivering was scheduled for Nov 26.

I found his email and sent message asking why delivery was changed, he said because I did not respond to his first text. Ok I was not in a rush. Then I get an email from the financing company Tesla sent me to, Alliant. They said they could only hold the rate for 60 days and would only be good until Nov 19.

I have tried for the last 2 weeks to get in touch with the inside delivery specialist, my Owner Advisor and local store manager. No luck, my emails and phone messages were not returned.

I went to the local Tesla store where I placed the order, my OA is always out and manager must be too busy talk to a customer. They were very attentive before I placed the order.

Then a few days ago, I find out about the price reduction, 2,300 for my build. Monday went to Tesla store, talked to a few people who looked into the price change. I was told that it would automatically update to new price.

A few minutes ago I received notification that my X was in production and the final purchase agreement was being sent for signature. Received the form and it still reflected the old price.

So I called the local delivery center, they are checking into it ????

I am very frustrated and disappointed with this order, this is not the way any customer should be treated especially a returning customer purchasing a second Tesla.

This is also giving me a bad feeling and definitely dampened the excitement of the anticipated delivery. I do not need the Model X.

I think that if they do not adjust to the lower price, I am going to cancel the order and do without another Tesla

i believe that this is normal Tesla practice. Sometimes Tesla will do a repricing and it often effects several aspects. Prior orders usually want to readjust to some of the changes, but rarely all of them. A short while ago they raised the base vehicle prices, but included the PUP items. Some posted they wanted the old prices, but also want the included PUP items.

In this case, Tesla is doing a pro active adjustment, knowing that previous buyers most likely will receive the full tax credit, while those placing orders now may only receive the reduced tax credit.

They offer to cancel customer orders and allow them to place a new order, at the new price. A fair offer.

Tesla knows there is a ready market for those cancelled orders, who would be delighted to purchase them before the tax credit gets slashed.

Tesla has usually honored the contracted pricing when their prices increased, but many customers want to wiggle out of their agreements.
