Are there any operational DC fast chargers that the model S can use?

The Tesla super charger network seems slow in deploying for those planning summer trips.

Not until the previously announced for Japan / Europe CHAdeMO converter gets released (if ever) for the US. And possibly the SAE adapter (if more chargers get rolled out).

Hours charging equals about two times hours driven. We really need to get going on the super charging network!

Check out PlugShare...there is a CHAdeMO in your backyard! I-75 in Punta Gorda...wouldn't it be great to have an adapter for the Model S?

I don't get the question. It sounds like you are aware that there are deployed superchargers. Just not very many. Or maybe you're making a distinction between DC fast chargers and superchargers, even though superchargers are DC fast chargers.
