Oy! What an adventure - but fun!

Went with Jcmason to the Queens service center to pick up our matching Model S's yesterday - truck driver with mine never showed up (the Tesla guys were doing a quick turn-over for me!). Come to find out that the truck driver came down with the flu and the truck was sitting a bit past Hartford CT. Nate & Gilbert of the Queens service center said - "we're getting you your car - we'll make it happen!" -- WOW!

They tracked down my car, called the trucking company to arrange to get it - they sent out a single flatbed to the truck, offloaded the other cars and put mine on the flatbed! My delivery specialist Gilbert said - "come on - lets go get your car!" and took me in his personal car the 120 miles up to Hartford. We met the flatbed, off-loaded the car and Gilbert (in the FREEZING windy cold - 14 degrees!) checked the car out, put on my plates and sent me on my way....

I'm always up for an adventure! My first drive in my Model S was a 100 mile trip home (she still had an 87% charge after 9 days transport in the cold - wow!) -- what a pleasure! Today I'm bringing her back to Queens to get the inspection and have her detailed.

These guys bent over backwards because they new I was so excited to get my car..... What a company!

Now being detailed at the Queens Service Center - Mine is behind the white with the hatch up:

You didn't see the outside! They had at least another 8-10 Model S's outside and as I was getting ready to leave another 2 were showing up on a truck! Most were being prepped for delivery and a few were in for service I believe.

Driving the car so far has been a Joy. They did a great job detailing yesterday, but alas today we have about .5 - .75" of snow so the car is going to get dirty again. I still have my Fusion Hybrid, but after only 36 hours with my S, I can't bring myself to *not* drive my S today - have a nice amount of driving to do and 4 client visits!

Going out to dinner but here are the pics of my Tesla Delivery and first day.

Uploading now so all the pics won't be up for abuot 10 -15 minutes.

Microsoft SkyDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Web Apps.

ElSupreme - beautiful car. I'm looking at Green/gray rims or black/gray rims myself. Its hard finding photos of the green ones. But I'm leaning towards green the more pictures I see. I like the way it changes with different lighting. You seem to get a black car at night, and a dark green during the day.

Yes in 85KW mls/h charging will be higher

60kw = 85kw : % charging per hour

Anyone have the "official" charge rate mi/hr from TM on the 60kw battery?! If the 85kw car gets up to 150mi in 30min (starting with empty battery), then I fully expect at least 100mi in 30min for the 60kw. If this isn't the case, then why am I paying $2k extra for SC capability for my 60kw car? It's called a "supercharger" so it better darn well have a decent charge rate.

Giants2001 post was I interesting example for a 60kw car. Great post. I assume his effective charge rate was only 100mi/hr because he started with 65mi range instead of a deeper discharge.

Follow-up data: Here's "exhibit A" from TM website regarding 60kwh battery using the supercharger. Says charging goes from 10% SOC to 80% SOC in 41min.

I feel better now that I remember this page. This is why I paid for SC capability. I look forward to more posts on real world experience of 60kwh car charge rates at the superchargers

Congrats Aaron! The cars seem to be really flying out of Fremont anymore! I stopped by our service center in King of Prussia, Pa the other day and there had to be around a dozen new cars sitting there awaiting delivery.
I know you've been waiting for a while now watching the rest of us from our NYC roadtrip adventure getting ours, but I'm sure your new wheels will prove to be as amazing as ours. I'm still looking for excuses to go out for a drive!

* Cross-posting here, a I guess this is a better place for it, but Mods, feel free to delete one of the posts.

So my delivery was less eventful than Aaron's, but equally positive. My car (P9096, VIN 3450, 85kWh,
Blue/Tan/Obeche Matt, Tech, Sound, Pano, 19", Air) arrived at the Queens service center on Thursday. I'd spent so much time on the forum, that I didn't learn too much in the walk through and was eager to get home to take her for a quick spin with the family before dark.

The first few minutes alone with the Model S were a little stressful - pulling out of the crowded service center onto a busy highway at rush hour in a part of New York that I don't know, figuring out the unfamiliar controls while trying to navigate, etc., but once on the highway...wow! This car can move. At one point, I needed to merge left onto the busy Long Island Expressway, saw a gap and floored it - whoosh - done, leaving plenty of time to admire the view of the car behind me and lots of open road in the rear view camera.

The Model S reminds me of the Tardis in Dr Who; it plays tricks with your perception of space. At one time, it looks quite compact, like a regular, upmarket family sedan.

Another time, it snarls like a wicked fast sports car.

Then you climb in, and there's so much open space that it feels huge yet somehow calm and peaceful.

But then, you take to the road and it moves with such precision that it feels no more difficult to maneuver than a Mini.

Anyway, she soon made it to the comfort of her new home next to her personal NEMA 14-50 on one side and my wife's Ford Focus Electric on the other.

I was quite relieved to see that, while my measurements suggested both cars should fit, though it would be quite tight, in reality it seems to be perfectly workable without requiring yoga moves to get in and out.

To all those still waiting, hang in there. It's truly a step function change in the driving experience and the best thing is, it will continue to get better from here with every new software release.

I can't wait to do our first long trip, hopefully this weekend.

Congrats JC. Amazing how dark the blue looks is in your pics.

Thanks. Yes, it's true that it's pretty dark in most lighting situations, less so in bright sunshine, and maybe not quite as dark as the photos show, but it almost looks black sometimes. I love it though. I think it looks a little sporty, quite classy - especially with the tan leather interior, plus I'm a little tired of gray and silver, so wanted something a little different. First big trip tomorrow - 133 miles for a one day ski trip. More on that later.
