P85 picked up at factory and drove to Vegas, car is better than I dreamed about!

I picked up my new white P85 from Fremont on Friday and drove back to LA with stops at Gilroy, Harris Ranch and Tejon Ranch superchargers. The factory tour is truly incredible and if you can make the trip I would highly recommend the tour. There were about 11 people in my tour and 14 in the group after mine! There were at least 20-30 cars in the delivery area that day, and the del specialist-(Andrew-very nice/helpful and knowledgable guy) said they deliver about 4-7 cars/day each on weekends! My car was#6025 and had no P85 badging, and version 4.2 software. I was also missing the carbon fiber spoiler! Despite these annoyances, it was absolutely beautiful and a dream come true!
On the drive home, Gilroy charging was no prob, with 265 mile range leaving factory, 218 on arrival at Gilroy, and 272 max range charge departing Gilroy after 20-30 minutes. I was driving "spiritedly" down I-101, CR-152, and I-5 to Harris Ranch and arrived to find 3 Model S's waiting! After an enjoyable 1 hr chatting to other Model S owners, I was ready to charge. My NEW MS would not supercharge, but would charge on the 240v roadster charger there at
a rate of 70A and 36mi/hr added. Tried re-booting at Tesla roadside assist suggestion-no luck! After 3 hrs, basketball games, and a fine meal at Harris Ranch Inn, (lucky for me March Madness was on!) I headed to Tejon Ranch with 255 miles of rated range(enough to insure I'd get to LA if problems at Tejon!) In Tejon, Tesla had me download and install ver4.3 software-took about 30 minutes- EUREKA! Supercharging worked perfectly at almost 270mi/hr of charge! Left Tejon with 270 range and arrived at Hotel Palomar Westwood(Blink chargers available at $1.00/hr and 50% discount on valet parking.) with 160 mi range left.
Had car detailed in LA by Tuan at Glossworks Paint Correction, including C-Quartz Finest sealant applied-highly recommended, and departed LA after Hawthorne supercharge stop, 272 range, to Barstow supercharger.
arrived with 110 range, and 2 other Model S at station. Barstow has 2 slots, but one car was having trouble charging, I told him about my issues and he was downloading new software, so I hopped on and charged at approx. 75-110mi/hr. After lunch and more basketball on TV, headed out with 265 range to Vegas. Arrived home with 81 miles range after more "spirited" driving! Plugged in to my new NEMA14-50 installed on Friday while I was gone and charging at 28-30 mi/hr (40a)!
Sorry this turned into a novella, but the news needs to get out that this is one of the most fun trips I have ever taken and the car is truly amazing on the road. Fast, agile, solid, stable, enjoyable to spend hours in, and it made me smell the roses a little more than I normally would on a road trip. I drove 650 miles and only paid about $5 to use Blink charger at hotel, and I could have just waited and supercharged free at Hawthorne. I am a believer in Tesla and this technology and company, and I think they are going to do even greater things in the future. The ability for Tesla to "fix" my car wirelessly and for me to track the car and its charging on my i-phone with the My Tesla app is truly amazing. Navigation worked flawlessly, and I used voice controls the whole trip to map and make calls along the way. I hope all my fellow Tesla family enjoys their cars as much as I am right now!

Thanks for posting- this is extremely useful info for me since I'm planning to drive from the SF Bay area to Vegas at the end of April. Glad to know a range charge at Barstow with an 85 kWh battery will make it comfortably to Vegas!

Barstow to Vegas was no problem at all wraithnot, I had over 80 miles of range left when I got to my home in Summerlin, and I was cruising comfortably from 70-85 mph. I left Barstow with 265 miles of range. It was a great drive, beautiful scenery through hwy 152 (Pacheco Pass) from 101 over to I-5 from Gilroy. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Have a great trip and safe travels.

Seems like I might get some anxiety with driving my 60 from Barstow to Vegas. I'll have to charge till full in range mode and watch my speed heading to Vegas. Regardless it'll be one hell of an adventure.
