Howdy. First post on the forum. Thank you to all the members posting information here! You all were a great help in our eventual purchase decision. This evening we ordered a Model 3 Performance, red/white. Even though our screen name is AZHobos, we are currently living in a no-mans land as far as EVs are concerned in rural SE New Mexico.

This is a big step for us and we are quite nervous. Our last new vehicle purchase was in 1997! For this purchase we are moving up from a 2002 Honda Accord.

Tesla will ship the car to our home in New Mexico, but we are thinking of taking delivery of it in Phoenix, AZ so we can reduce the potential for shipping damage and have a better chance of getting any problems corrected. Thoughts? Advice?
Always best to pick it up from a store. Welcome to Tesla family

My Delivery Specialist just confirmed that it was used as a test drive vehicle 60 miles away and then driven to my location when it was matched to me.

Should I be looking for a price adjustment since this was a demo vehicle (only 272 miles on it though?)

I would be looking for SOMETHING at least. While you don't have to worry about thrashing like you might have to with an ICE vehicle, it's been driven by others prior to you. I'd, at a minimum, try to get some supercharging miles added to your account - if not a small discount or service center credit applicable to a wall charger, etc.

If there isn't a discount, I'd rather order a vehicle and get one fresh off the line. There's no rush at this point with the tax credit remaining stable for the immediate future.

YMMV if you want the vehicle sooner than the currently anticipated timeline.

I mean it is not the end of the world but you are paying for a brand new car not a demo. Why should you pay the same for your car with 272 miles as I did for mine with 4 miles? It is like brand new pair of sneakers vs. a pair that 30-40 people tried on and walked around in. :)

If the average customer test drive is 5 miles or so that could mean 50 test drives? Demos at traditional car dealerships usually get some form of extra discount. To me the extra 270 miles it is worth ~$500 in accessories at the Tesla store, which would be good for a Wall Connector, Trunk mat, etc. You will never know unless you ask for more discount.

Appreciate the input guys. I actually did ask him to see what they can do in the way of a price adjustment, and I clarified that if there was wear and tear issues with the vehicle that I'd have to consider that before taking delivery. We'll see what he comes back with - he's gone radio silent since.

I have no problem receiving a car used as a tester so long as it is in "NEW" condition since that's what they're selling it as. If there are defects then I'll deal with warranty on that, but I won't settle for paint/body, upholstery, wheel/tire, or other wear and tear type of problems without some serious compensation beyond the usual "there are some miles on this vehicle, so here's a few bucks off".

Anyway, delivery is tomorrow so I'll report back and let everyone know how it went. Wish me luck!

Fair enough but keep in mind that this is an M3P so that is more than likely 270 miles of acceleration testing. :D

Best of luck.

Probably about the same amount of acceleration testing I would've done in the first 272 miles anyway :)

In any event, I was provided an adjustment per mile. It wasn't much since again, it was only 272 miles on the clock, but the fact that they made an adjustment certainly gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling. They've also inspected the vehicle and assured me that there are no issues with paint/body and other wear/tear items and encouraged me to thoroughly inspect it before taking delivery tomorrow.

Assuming everything is in order, I think Tesla has stepped up to the plate and taken care of me. Tomorrow will be the ultimate confirmation though. I hope I'll be happy with my new Model 3P by this time tomorrow.

So I took delivery of the vehicle at the Manhasset NY store. I gotta say, I had a whole lot of anxiety for no reason at all. The car is perfect, the transaction went smooth without any hitches, and the Tesla staff I dealt with were the friendliest bunch of people I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with in my many years of dealing with car dealerships.

I still giggle like a little girl when I put my foot on the skinny pedal. I don't think I'll ever get used to that. I'm happy with the car, and I'm happy to be a part of the Tesla family!

Second Model 3, this time with Performance. Love it!!

As I was driving the SR+ before I never noticed any whining noise coming from the front. I assume as this is dual motor the noise I am hearing is from the drivetrain. I can't say I love the noise, but don't really mind it overall. Hopefully it doesn't wine at a constant speed when I'm on the highway. Other than that...wow the speed is incredible!!!! Love the rush!

Been lurking here for years and nearly purchased at the end of the quarter but couldn't make up my mind between the LR AWD or the P3D. Today's price adjustments to the trim and colors, along with the potential to choose 18" wheels, finally nudged me off the fence. Placed an order just past midnight for a white on white P3D (no FSD) and I plan to inquire about the off menu wheels. Wish me luck!

RE: Price Change

I placed our order for a red P3D last Tuesday the 9th. Originally I was planning to order last night (when the price dropped) but I got impatient. I was kicking myself and quite restless last night as there is a roughly $4,900 price difference now.

This morning I called customer service and quickly got through to Alex. She stated that once a VIN is assigned, the amount due in my account will change to reflect the new, lower price.
