Same. I hated to have to do it but I also have a reservation on a Taycan. I called my owner advisor and told him I was displeased that people who ordered after me, further from the factory than me, identical config as me were getting VINs before me. If I don’t get a VIN by Monday I’m just going to cancel and wait for the Taycan. Love Tesla, but I can’t give 70k to a company that is ****ing around like this.
You should do your homework on what is happening with the Audi e-tron since audi and porsche are intertwined. I'd not want a first generation electric vehicle from the legacy automakers as it seems they are not anywhere close to the top of the game in electric drive trains, efficient design or battery supply chain.
Tesla has all of this in spades.
Not to mention customer service. No one follows up in my experience. You gotta chase them. It’s the complete opposite of traditional car dealers. Wonder if they even work on comission.I see your point, however Tesla could do a lot better with organization and delivery strategy. That part needs a huge overhaul.
See I don’t like commission jobs. For that reason you become a bloodhound, however, there are times when commission job come in handy, I.e. waiting for people to get back to you or having issue, etc. totally agree with you. I hope all of you guys get the new FSD chip to compensate for the wait. Can't blame anyone frustrated, Tesla ordering experience overall is absolute garbage. I f'n hate waiting and can't even fathom the folks that waited for 1 or 2 years to get their order.
I believe everyone in our March thread got their VINs before I did, and I ordered 03/02. It was frustrating but I ended up getting mine only a few days later.
Silver line is on the product, in my case the car was pristine with zero issues and it's amazing to drive.
If Tesla do not improve customer experience, people will turn on them and start resenting the brand.. it's bad business.
Totally agree, the ordering experience isn’t too bad, it’s everything afterward that just takes steep nose dive.. the communication can be poor at best but sometimes it great. Our first model 3 went thru smooth. This one not so much.
Oh no, at this point in time, Tesla has the market on lock. That is for sure. Not saying that at all.I certainly don't want to gloss over a bad delivery process, which I think can be much improved, even if through automation / emails / etc.
But thinking you are going to get a better product than a Tesla going to Audi, Porsche, VW, Jaguar, or any other legacy manufacturer at this time, I think you might be on something I may want you to share.
This can all change in the future, but not today.
Yeah what I worry about as an actual fan of the company is this: Tesla knows they’re in the lead. They can get away with a bunch of stuff because there aren’t currently viable alternatives. Once there are, people aren’t likely to forget the bad experience they had. Traditional auto makers have deep pockets to lure customers away. If that happens, it’s bad news for Tesla. Realistically, they can’t maintain being this far ahead of everyone and people will catch up.Oh no, at this point in time, Tesla has the market on lock. That is for sure. Not saying that at all.

Why Tesla Defines American Luxury, Not Cadillac or Lincoln - MotorTrend
Granted .. this isn’t a compare to Audi/bmw/Porsche.... but...the article makes a decent point
Ordered black on black M3 Performance, no FSD, on 4/25. Filled out all the stuff on the website regarding registration, payment, trade-in, delivery location, etc. Got slightly low, but acceptable trade-in quote on 4/26 and accepted it. Website still says delivery within 2 weeks of order date. Next Steps pop-up windows says "Order" and "Prepare for Delivery" are done (checked), payment is next step.
Just got an email (likely automated) from Tesla, saying "Action required" for delivery location, drivers license, insurance, and trade-in.
Website still says all of these things are already completed. I assume this email is just an automated reminder that hopefully means my car is moving through the manufacturing process and delivery is likely in the near future.
Anyone else have this experience?
