phantom braking theory

Well, not much of a theory, more like speculation.
Every day my M3 gets scared of things hanging in the sky. Really.

this is inside a tunnel who goes under a river. When i'm about 10-20 meters from these ceiling hanging green lights, it decelerates about 10km/hr or so. It happens so predictably that I keep my foot on the accelerator every day when I reach this spot.

IT also happens, although less predictably, when I'm about the same distance from overhanging traffic signals, and even less frequently when going under an overpass.

I have the impression it only happens if I'm going above 60km/hr or so.

So given the tunnel occurences, it has nothing to do with shadows, nor speed limit of an overpass (this one is underwater)

I think is just affraid of overhanging things...

maybe an overreaction to the few times Teslas went under semis? what do you think?

I think that the released A”I” is simply not sophisticated enough to deal with anything as “complicated” as overhead lights in a tunnel. It can’t even understand lane merges or lane interruptions reliably.

I’m curious how it’ll perform with a HW3 neural net. Right now it’s terrible.
