What’s that adapter being held up? Maybe a dust cover for the connector?

But I don't understand the adapter. That's not the shape of a Tesla charge port inlet. And the wall plug side of the UMC wouldn't have the extra pilot signal pins, etc... I don't understand what that plugs in to, or what I'm looking at.

Here are the available plugs for the new Model 3 UMC

embedded temperature sensor and current limit pin.

There is a video on YouTube where someone cut one open.

I saw a Model 3 today, and I felt that it reminds me the front of the EV1:

Just came across a midnight silver Model 3 in El Dorado Hills, CA (VIN 326 delivered this past Saturday).

The owner was kind enough to let me take some pics, chat for a few minutes, offered to show me the frunk, trunk, and interior, and was even willing to take a photo of me in front of my first Model 3 sighting! I was completely nerding out!

My take:
  • It seriously looks even better in-person than in the photos! It looks really really good and has me even more excited!
  • Everything about it seems high quality.
  • It seems about the same size that I had imagined (similar to a BMW 3 series).
  • The midnight grey looks stunning in-person and totally matches the aero wheels. It actually has me reconsidering black as a color choice.
  • No noticeable panel gaps. ;)
  • The frunk seems smaller in person and more shallow than it appears in photos.
  • The trunk opening seems large (compared to my Civic), but the wheel wells seem to intrude more into the trunk than it appears in photos, still not bad at all, but just more than I thought.
  • The aero wheels look very cool in-person, although, I noticed one of the rims had already been slightly curbed.
  • The screen looks super sharp and clear.
  • The owner has EAP and said it works great, but just strange getting used to it steering itself.
  • The owner said the doors take some extra force to close because they have a tight seal. While I was there she didn’t use enough force to close the door and it didn’t completely close (but did latch).
  • She used the app to pop the frunk and trunk, which was pretty cool to see.
  • I forgot to ask how the Bluetooth unlock is working and how they like the HVAC system, and probably a bunch of other questions, but I was too excited to finally come across one! :D
Enjoy the photos! :)

Sorry no pictures but stopped by Dedham, Ma store today and they told me their first Model 3 was delivered this past Saturday. Knowing all the curiosity seekers would be snapping pictures and trying to get a good look they covered it and kept it in an area that could not be seen by the public.

Thanks, @arnonth5. Any idea what color, so we can keep an eye out for it on the road?

Thanks to a very generous Model 3 owner taking delivery last friday I was able to test drive my first Model 3 in Fremont ! Super awesome experience, and yes, it does look even more stunning in person than in the pictures, I thought that was hype but I felt the same way.

It's one of the early 300-range vin builds. Looks perfect to my eye, the aero covers go very well with the pearl white.

Driving dynamics wise I loved the smoothness of acceleration, did not appear as agressive as the model S and model X I drove before but overall seemed more quiet and suspension works very well to absorb street bumps. I forgot to set the steering mode to sport, but basically I did not notice how fast we went to the speed limit while the gas cars in the lane next to and behind us disappeared in the back mirror. Talking about the inside back mirror, unlike the Model X it is actually giving excellent views, a good size finally. It seemed to corner well, larger turning radius than VW eGolf but smaller than Model S or X.

I love the size of the car.

Air conditioning seemed very effective. Interesting way to point the focus of the air stream. The scroll wheels on the steering wheel also are joysticks pushed horizontally.

The fact that your speedometer is now no longer behind the streering wheel but on the screen next to me at first seemed like I need to get used to it for a little, but somehow nothing about it seems wrong. And now that I am back in our VW eGolf and Tesla Model X, and I realize I lift up in the seat to peak past my hands or a steering wheel spoke to see something on that legacy display, I realize that tesla got it right. And I am looking forward to my eGolf being replaced with the Model 3 and me not having to do that any more :)

The charging set comes with adapters for the usual things, RV park, 5-15, L2 adapter etc. Frunk is smaller than the Model X, Trunk just like Model X has a cover over a deeper section below so has pretty good volume.

All seats are super comfortable, rear seats have fold-down armrest with two cup holders in the back of the 5th (middle) seat, something I really like from my VW eGolf when using with only 4 passengers. Back bench folds down in two sections.

I so can't wait to get mine, and seeing this color combination in person I think I finally narrowed down my choice to a final one :)
