In the discussions and comparisons regarding acceleration of Tesla’s Model S and Model X versus a Porsche Carrera, the mention of one Carrera variant is conspicuously absent, the Carrera GT. In Car & Driver’s June 2004 issue, their test results,
0 – 60: 3.5 seconds
0 – 100: 6.8 seconds
Standing ¼ mile: 11.2 seconds @ 132 mph
Top Speed: 205 mph (redline limited)
None are being produced today as the 1,270 built were between the years of 2004 and 2007.
So in terms of future cars, perhaps a targa in addition to or lieu of a roadster with the Carrera GT’s accelerative performance, if not its top speed, might be worth a look. Or is Tesla already looking at this proposition and I’m just behind the curve . . . again.
