Premium Seat Retrofit

I had a 2017 S70D loaner the other day with the premium seats. They were much more comfortable than my 1st gen seats. Anyone know if they can be retrofitted by Tesla? Cost?

Anyone have experience with a DIY on this?

Tesla will do it if you ask. I think someone else on the forum did this before. Haven't done it myself so I dont have any DIY experience for seat retrofits.

As mentioned it can be done, but for a "premium" cost which includes parts and labor. I'm not sure the cost of the premium seats but they should be less than the Next Gen Seats (Gen 3) which were $6,000 to install 2 seats inclusive of parts and labor, considering Tesla makes the premium seats in-house. Check with your service center.

does anyone know if the bottom of the rear seat can be taken out and the newest rear seat put in??? Our s60d is from 4/17 and i see a new bottom rear seat is designed with more bolsters and not so flat.

My guess is this will be cost prohibitive and you would be better off selling your existing car and putting that money toward another inventory or CPO car.

thanx but just got the car 3/17 and not selling just for the rear bench seat....just wondered if it was plug n play for a new bottom bench seat

I would disagree with that knowing how much it has been to retrofit next-gens in the past.

And I'd be very interested in fitting the premium seats and replacing my next-gen seats, although I think the biggest problem is that I have the grey interior. Not even sure that premium seats were available as grey...?

I asked a while to the SeC but haven't gotten a reply either on the cost. I would be willing to pay for an upgrade, but 6k€ is way too much for me. I also have the first gen seats.

No the premium seats were not available in grey. Although I wish they were.

I was told by an individual at an area service center that the older seats could not be upgraded to next-gen or premium because the wiring harnesses are different. May or may not be true, but that's what I was told.

There have been cases where people paid for the swap from old seats to next-gen. It can be done.

Hello! I found this thread, wanting to retrofit my textile seats (which cause me leg pain), to the premium leather. I contacted my Tesla service center and they told me this is no longer an option. Can anyone confirm?
