Refund of Ludicrous Deposit?

Has anyone asked for a refund on this non-refundable deposit? If so, what happened?

I ask because I have a deposit down and want to get the upgrade. However I am leasing and at some point the wait to get the upgrade will cause me to throw in the towel and just wait for the next lease to begin. Not sure when that will be but there is a cut off point in my brain somewhere.

This was a non-refundable deposit, really? I wasn't aware that Tesla took non-refundable deposits except for when your vehicle deposit becomes non-refundable once the car goes into production. If you put this Ludicrous deposit on your credit card, you can probably dispute the charge by saying that you did not receive the product that you paid for.
