So i've just spoken with my delivery specialist who has confirmed my X will finish production on 7th November, and looking like a late December delivery!!
I just spoke with mine also and he said my prior delivery date of Feb likely to be moved forward to Dec or Jan. Vin just assigned! Does anyone have any advice on home charging and how to get a Tesla charger fitted? Thanks

Got an email from Tesla last night saying production complete! Looks like they're pumping them out quicker than expected.
Can't help on the home charging front....sorry

This is the installation manual for the wall connector. Although the warranty and contact info in the document has been localized for Australia, the same connector is used in the U.K. and Europe.

I went down to the dealership & bought one from there - the 7m cable one was £438 inc VAT. Then because I'm having my cellar converted at the mo I just asked the electrician working on that if he could do it, which he says he can, so I don't know what the cost of getting someone specifically in to do it would be. At the Tesla showroom they offered to give me a list of local electricians who they recommend.

I already have a 3V as I currently drive a Leaf which isn't really fast enough to charge a Tesla, overnight would only get it to 50% charge apparently. The cost of getting that upgraded to 7V by the company who did it was going to be £900! So I reckon buying the charger direct from Tesla & getting an electrician in to fit it is the cheapest option

That's great info, thank you.

My business gets electrical work done the whole time so I'm pretty familiar with this stuff. It depends on where you want the charger fitted, where the consumer unit (fuse box) currently is, cable route, etc.

For me I have a consumer unit in the garage with spare spaces for breakers. It will be about 10m of cable, a breaker, some clips & that's about it. I expect a sparky to have the charger mounted and connected up in half a day with < £30 of materials cost. So install cost comfortably < £250.

If they are drilling loads of holes, big cable runs, replacing consumer unit with bigger one (e.g. no spaces left for breakers), making good afterwards (e.g. chasing walls and replastering, decorating) then you could be in another world of cost.

It is very much a "how long is a piece of string" question, but electrically it's no different from installing a power shower.

How's the tax like for Teslas in Japan out of intrest??
No special tax. We have general consumption tax of 8% and other misc taxes but they are the same as other ICEs. In Tokyo or Aichi prefecture we got zero annual vehicle tax for the first five years. In other prefecture, it's $300 per year for Tesla, same as very small cars, based on displacement. Cars like over 3000cc has $700-$800 range.
