Rivian will integrate Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant into its upcoming electric vehicles.

The feature was announced this week at CES. Amazon is providing the feature to a long list of automakers including Ford, Audi, BMW, GM, and Toyota.

But, Amazon has been an enthusiastic supporter of Rivian. In addition to a $700 million investment in the start-up, Amazon has ordered a fleet of 100,000 all-electric Amazon delivery vans, which are expected in 2021.

Amazon designed Alexa features specifically for the in-car experience. For instance, later this year consumers will be able to say, “Alexa, pay for gas” to purchase fuel at all 11,500 Exxon and Mobil stations.

Rivian’s R1T pickup is expected to go into production next year and start at $69,000. The truck will include four electric motors and three battery packs options – a 180 kWh battery that is expected to offer more than 400 miles of range per charge, a 135 kWh option that gives more than 300 miles of range per charge, and a 105 kWh pack, which will give about 230 miles of range per charge. The R1T has a towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. The company also intends to build an SUV version called the R1S.
