there‘s quite a few strange things during production-line.
remember that all 1.5 US Roadsters had the full carbon trunk tray, at some stage they changed it to a flocked GFK tray.
at the EU- Roadsters that happened roundabout VIN #110 (this is the last one i personally know with a carbon trunk tray).
when you read carefully through all available service bulletins, you‘ll find out, that there were a few Roadsters with a VIN below 110, wich were especially delivered wirh a flocked trunk tray, non carbon. we had four of those in our workshop allready, funny they‘re all sport, jet black, black intereur, those further mentioned (ugly) long rubber flaps on front fender (no reflector) and came with black rims.
i cannot work out if they were initially made for a special purpose or costumer, two of those are still with their 1st. owner, both owners didn‘t configurate the car at the time of order but bought them directly in a service center - so this may be a clue that they were made for something special ?
as for the handwound/machinewound engine i‘m unable to say anything, i can‘t tell the diference but if it helps others, i‘ll make some pics of the labels from all EU-Roadster motors i have easy access to…
