Wow! That's a journey! We thought of doing the drive from Calgary but with a lack of Superchargers going south from Alberta it would be a 35+ hr drive one way. We booked flights and rented an ICE for when we arrive in SFO. Hoping to find a cancellation for a Freemont factory tour so @ggenge and I can attend before the Gigaparty!

Here is an interesting update on the GigaFactory expansion progress.

New Tesla Gigafactory picture shows new construction to double the size of the current plant

It is the Gigafactory’s big week.
On Friday, Tesla will hold the ‘Grand Opening’ event for what has been called the ‘pilot plant’ of its battery factory, which will offer 13 million-square-foot of workspace once completed while the current plant cover just over 1.9 million-square-foot. The factory aims to produce at least 50 GWh of battery packs when at full capacity and to reduce the cost of batteries by more than 30%.

Now Tesla released a new picture of the ‘Gigafactory 1’ site in Nevada and it shows early work on 4 new sections, which should about double the size of the current plant.

Hi All: I just wanted to report on my status: I have a ticket and my son in law is my +1.
I am staying at the Atlantis Casino. My info says that it is about a 30 minutes drive Tesla Gigafactory at Electric1,
Sparks NV. Is that your info too?

Despite winning the ticket lottery, I declined and gave the invite back. Just won't make it on Friday, but hopefully Tesla can grant the spaces to someone else.

This looks to be a BIG event, this photo from Teslarati shows 2000 new parking spaces, a ginormus tent and new lines on the road about the factory presumably to show off autopilot. Check it out and I (www.TalkingTesla.net) will see you there!

Has anyone heard information on how Tesla is providing shuttles to the event? I know for referral winners they were offering this. I'm hoping they will have ongoing shuttles in waves beyond just the 6pm start time.

I'm landing in Reno at around 630pm, and since the GF is 30 mins from the airport, I expect I'll be able to make it in time for the 9 pm remarks, and hopefully a tour. It would be great to catch one of the shuttles to save the trouble of arranging transportation.

Thank you for confirming your attendance for the Gigafactory Grand Opening. We're looking forward to sharing this exciting milestone with you.

Please note the following:

• Your RSVP is good for you and your guest.
• Invitations are non-transferable and ID will be checked upon arrival. Guests must arrive at the same time as the primary ticket holder.
• Check-in will open at 5pm.
  
• Factory Tours and test rides will be offered on a first to arrive basis from 6-9pm. Time slots will be allocated at check-in.
• Remarks will begin at 9pm, tours and rides to resume after remarks.
• Food and drinks will be served beginning at 6pm.
  
• The event will be held both indoors and outdoors so we recommend light outerwear in case of cooler weather.
• Closed toed shoes must be worn. Flat-heeled shoes recommended.
• Children must be over the age of 8 and over 48 inches tall.

PARKING AND CHARGING

• Valet parking will be available onsite. Entry to valet parking will be via Electric Avenue.
• Charging will not be available onsite. The closest Supercharger locations are in Reno or Truckee.
• Transportation will be provided from Reno to the Gigafactory event. Additional details to come.

• We recommend booking a room at one of the following nearby hotels:

We just received an email from Tesla stating that we were not selected in the gigafactory lottery! We confirmed and received confirmation email on 7/20, so this email doesn't make sense. Did anyone else have this happen?

Same thing here... And already purchased plane tickets so I hope it's a mistake.
