I know Tesla recommend no seat covers but has anyone found good quality (airbag friendly) sheepskin covers? Anyone using the cover advertised on ebay (Aus)?

And they state the reason is that covers may affect the deployment of the airbags. Hence, get airbag compatible seat covers.

The day TESLA make ';airbag compatable' seat covers is the day I get them. but if you know how airbags deploy you know that won't happen. You are literally playing around with how explosives deploy a few inches from your body and face.
Do you really think that Tesla are the only manufacturer to have airbags in the seats. Seat covers are a big business and all modern vehicles have seat airbags.
To be honest, I don’t think that’s really the case these days. Car seat covers have been in decline for years and you rarely see them any more.
The OP even mentioned sheepskin covers, and I can’t recall seeing a car with those since the 90’s!
The exception to the decline would be the specialised protective covers such as a rear seat protector for pets or child seats. These are still definitely a thing.
As others have alluded to, modern car seats have things like airbag integration, motorisation, heating, ventilation, weight sensors etc etc and some of these things don’t work well with covers. These features weren’t much of an issue 20 years ago when people used to buy seat covers.

That's unlucky.Warning: I tried to protect the leather seats in my previous car, and on day one of ownership a rogue fingernail clipping (presumedly from the previous owner) got caught on the inside of the seat cover and proceeded to wreak havoc on my previously flawless seats
The Tesla seat vinyl feels soft compared to my previous Lexus and Holden "leather", but tough enough to withstand what my tribe throws at it. I accept that I'm the only one in the family that takes care of the car. The black interior looks like new after 10 months, which isn't something I can't say about the Toyota cloth interior we have.

It would be nice to have proper leather seats in the 3 (ala the S ones).

April 2022 we hired a 2021 Model S Plaid from LAX to Austin TX return - ventilated seats (heated and cooled) weren't all that comfortable either.

OE is very sticky in summer. Love the sheepskin covers I go so far…but it’s winter now
