Type 2 to type 2 cable as extension cable.

Interesting. I have also considered cutting the excess plastic off, but have only ever used the cable once, and have never been blocked out of a charging station, so the thought remains just a thought bubble. Have you used the modified cable in a non-tethered AC charger to prove that it still...

    Not selecting my drivers profile

I was wondering if you need to set it to a user, rather than a phone or keycard. I know it says otherwise, yet it doesnt work. My car defaults to the person who last drove it (ie the last profile used).

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I have recently been travelling in the UK and NZ and can tell you that we have a much better experience with google maps/navigation here in Australia than either of those countries do.

What am I missing - EV pushback in Australia

"e" doesnt exist because you dont have a "d". Actually I have found "older country folk" to be very interested in EV's. They are the ones who are likely to come and chat while I'm plugging/unplugging at the shopping centre charger. It's young/middle aged men who have a chip on their shoulder and...

    Repair/Parts wait times in Australia

Someone backed into us a couple of weeks back and I'm getting the local (Non-Tesla) bodyshop to weld it up and respray. Insurance company not keen but are coming to the party, so we'll see how it goes.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I had the same problem a few weeks back. It immediately started downloading 2022.44.5 and also showed that it was updating the maps. I got the firmware, but maps are still the old version.

    SR+ after 2 years

Wow!!, My 2019 SR+ is still running original tyres at 51,000km. We live in the country though, so just about all our travel is either windy country roads or highways.

HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 versus TESLA MODEL 3 | Wheels Australia

A few key points that are significant: 1. He implies the Ioniq is 5K dearer than the M3, but his own figures show 10k 2. Proudly shows the walk up unlock of the Ioniq, but shows the Tesla needing either the card or phone app. Doesnt mention the walk up with your phone capability, or the auto...

hey Tesla owners! what application besides Tesla you use?

TeslaFi. Provides a mountain of information on battery, range, locations, speed temperature, terrain ..... Only $50pa and well worth it if your into monitoring things, or want an app for business use etc. You can use my referral code for us both to gain a bit of credit: aw220852

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Hmm!!, Mine still works as per expectations. Mine is EMONEVSE, but same software, and it modulates the charge rate dependant on solar. The timers dont seem to work properly anymore, though mine is the older ESP8266 based not the ESP32, so timers were always a problem.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Went for a drive today and was surprised at how much the autopilot has improved on our windy country road. Slowed down an appropriate amount for bends ragther than the old overreacting style, stayed left even though the road is unmarked, slowed down and sped up as we changed through different...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I had an odd problem this morning. My car and app both reported that a software update was pending, but I needed to connect to wifi to download it. Tesla Software updates - Australia

I think the driver profile detection has been changed. It used to be a bit hit and miss for selecting who is the driver, but now seems to allways choose the last driver regardless of who actually unlocks the car.

    TACC Question

We have a section of road here that is signposted to 80 (just after the 60 zone), but the car never increases speed here. I think it must be using some other mapping info to determine the speed zone.
  19. S

    TACC Question

You can set the speed to what it has read by pushing down on the right stalk for a second or so (ie: a long push). The car will automatically update its actual speed in some circumstances, but will never go above the speed it was initially set too. eg: on our secondary road, if I set the speed...

    Evie EV charging networks

Luckily there are high capacity chargers at Taree and Karuah now, but prior to their commisioning there wa only the Nabiac NRMA stall between Heatherbrae and Port Macquarie. Too bad for non-Tesla's.

    Evie EV charging networks

It seems to me that you're not listening to the arguments. Sites and equipment that will support over 50KW are apparently very expensive to build and the EV population doesnt really exist to support them. At the moment, the whole EV charging paradigm is definitely not based on a return of...

    Portable adaptors

I presume you meant the 22KW versions are pointless at a 3phase site. Has your second point been verified, ie is the charge rate limited to 16Amp at a single phase site with a 11KW 3 phase cable?.
  26. S

National and State Renewable Energy stats

Is this correct?. ie is 5Kw the maximum size or is it the maximum that can be exported. Essential, which covers the majority of the state, limits the maximum to 5KW per phase. But that is the export limit, not the solar array limit. They dont care if you put 20kw on your house, just that the...

Has anyone tried the QESH yet? It looks useful but it has css 2 and Chademo..

Do you mean the trip planner in the car?. It pretty much only knows about Tesla chargers unless you have visited a non-Tesla one before. Best to use Plugshare and/or ABRP for trip planning.

Sydney to Cameron Corner (a.k.a. how to break ABRP)

When I was there 6 years ago, one of the claypans was wet so we had to drive around the edge through the 'very' soft sand dunes. When we came back a couple of days later, the claypan was fine and the drive was much easier.

Sydney to Cameron Corner (a.k.a. how to break ABRP)

Where did you see that the Cameron Corner road is sealed. As far as I can tell it isnt, and when I visited a couple of years ago, you definitely needed a 4WD vehicle. Also, why would you route Sydney via Bourke to Broken Hill. Seems a long way round.

Charging at home at rented house [in Australia]

I'm pretty sure that modifying the electrical installation of a rental house without the permission of the owner would not be allowed as per the rental agreement and you may lose your bond on termination. If there is some advantage to the landlord (eg adds value to the house, implied long...

    Portable adaptors

I dont see why you would need any additional cable. There are quite a few AC chargers around that area that require you to bring a cable (and some that dont), but there are also a number of DC chargers. All DC chargers have their own cable. If you're going for a road trip, you're probably going...

    NSW Police Targeting Teslas?

SW version 2021.4.12 - hopeless (in Aus at least)

I agree that the Lane change to the left/slow lane is extremely dodgy. Legitimate locations for superchargers in 2022/23

And your point is?. Whether you're going in/out of Newcastle, or on the main highway bypassing Newcastle, the Heatherbrae and Tuggerah SC's are conveniently located. Unlike the SC's in Sydney.

Legitimate locations for superchargers in 2022/23

I dont see any point in a supercharger in Newcastle either. Heatherbrae is just a couple of minutes up the road, and the Tuggerah SC is just an hour in the other direction. Then of course there are the NRMA and Chargefox chargers in Newcastle suburbs as well as a myriad of destination chargers.

    Evie EV charging networks

There was a comment a little while back by an EVIE engineer about the power requirements and costs. Basically it's pretty easy to find 50KW capable sites, but 350KW sites are much harder to find and expensive to install $000's vs $000,000. Also I suspect that 50KW aligns to some standard power...
