When has Elon or the Board ever said people should buy the stock?Sure, but pretty bad optics... still, nice to bee the Tesla BoD out there championing the company and building confidence in the stock /s
Fair enough, and it's why I sold what I had and decided not to go back in unless it goes really, really lowWhen has Elon or the Board ever said people should buy the stock?
Closest thing I'm aware of is path to high valuation in the future.
Q1 2018:
"I think that if people are concerned about volatility, they should definitely not buy our stock. I'm not here to convince you to buy our stock. Do not buy it if volatility is scary. There you go."
Baron conference 2022:
'well I actually um rarely try to convince anyone to invest in Tesla and many times I've recommended people don't invest in Tesla and I've said our stock is too high but when people just ignore me and keep buying the stock some reason um so um but if I think at at a very high level I'd say that autonomy is an insanely fundamental breakthrough and and no one is even close to Tesla for solving generalized autonomy or generalized self-driving Vehicles no one's even close um and and with self-driving as I was..."
When it dropped in 2022, almost everything else did too. But this time we are dropping with others at or near ATH. That’s the major difference.Very interesting to read the comments, I can't recall so many saying they're looking to get out of the stock completely, not even when it dumped in 2022
If we're thinking along these lines, and I think it's fair to say we love the company and are generally very bullish on TSLA over the years, then it does not look good at all
Added to that, we have much better understanding and insight on Tesla than the vast majority of investors who get their news from the MSM, but even we've had enough...
Personally I have lost all confidence in Musk and that's a game-changer for me, he's totally off the rails as of late, BoD may as well not exist, zero effort to smooth the decline the stock, not a peep on the Delaware situation, as I said for years, they are hopeless
I'm happy I offloaded what few shares I had at $180, sure I have 126x LEAPs to deal with, mostly +c200's, but 2 years on those, a lot can happen in that time, and I will just write weekly shitcalls against them to slowly claw back the premiums, not going to panic-sell those, they make excellent long-legs on calendar diagonals!
Just need be strong, careful to resist the urge to write 100x -cATM down here, the moment I do that we'll get a DCB
Now let's see where we land, 158, 146, 105, 89...?
depends on where in 2022 we're talking about. November 15 or December 31?Very interesting to read the comments, I can't recall so many saying they're looking to get out of the stock completely, not even when it dumped in 2022
How are you able to retire at 40 years old with so little money?Sadly, I had to unload about 1800 shares at $172 on Wednesday, and I sold another 1000 yesterday at $166, leaving me with only 248. The reasons are complex and many, most of it has to do with professional and personal issues (going through a divorce), but also from the great analyses here by Knightshade, tivoboy, Singuy, Starfoxisdown and others. I won't go through the arguments here--they've already been articulated, and you either agree with them or you don't. We all have to make our own decisions about what is "reality" at the end of the day. My selling leaves me with enough cash to enjoy life and still buy all things I want/need until I die (I'm 45 now). I am extraordinarily thankful to Tesla and TMC for allowing me to retire at 40, house, cars and two Airbnbs paid with cash from TSLA winnings. It's been a wild ride, that's for sure. I wouldn't change a thing. And the adventure continues...
I still believe hugely in Tesla, still believe it has enormous potential, still believe we could even see $300+/share this year (because I believe global money powers can crookedly put the SP wherever they want on any given day, practically), but I'm in survival mode now and the next couple years for me personally are looking a little rocky. I can appreciate why investors/Wall Street might be tapping out now while Tesla works through FSD, Semi, Energy, Auto, etc. (I don't put any value on Optimus at this time). But first and foremost I need to take care of myself and I can't risk waiting around for the next several years to see how all this shakes out. IF Q1 really is bad, and IF we suddenly drop to 120 or below, I absolutely will start slowly and carefully accumulating.
One of the most interesting things to witness with TSLA is its inability to partake in any macro rise when much of the market is rallying. Like the stock is just dead, which I've never seen before. It's been body slammed since Cybertruck first deliveries. And I can't afford to wait around to find out what will happen if we do have a macro market correction, or the next major "financial crisis"/"pandemic"/"war" fear porn our rulers decide to unleash on the masses.
I spend so much time analyzing Tesla and it's position to other companies that I don't have time for other stocks. I will still diligently follow all things Tesla, follow TMC, and continue buying and driving Teslas and basically be a Tesla brand ambassador. I honestly do hope my capitulation rockets the SP to the heavens, for the sake of everyone else here.

Yeap, I closed out my 2026 leaps, and had a chance to open up some december synthetic shorts ATM -160c/+160p, I'm now in protection mode.hope everyone were able to offload during the pump this morning. Back to normal schedule.....

Answered in other thread:How are you able to retire at 40 years old with so little money?
Yes, the rentals are a big help. But I'm also incredibly cheap. Used to be homeless. I can stretch a dollar like not many others. Also, I used to be a car mechanic, so I can fix/repair nearly anything, so that's a huge money saver. And if i have a major major health event suicide will be my escape hatch (I never carry health insurance unless work pays for it, total waste of money, and i have no dependents) . And I'll continue to follow other passions and dabble in interests that make me a little money. And thank you for your analyses as well, mongo, always appreciate your posts.
How does AMD measure vs NVDA and SMCI and now MSTR? I own a few shares and sold CC against when it hit 200. I'd be ok selling here, but the calls now are against a huge run up and profit now, before the AI stocks return to something closer to their mean.OMG MSTR 1dte 6Δ IC 94% chance of success 2.69 credit, wayyyy better than SMCI/NVDA i found a new darling
edit: now 3.91
Just let me into your 1% club, I'll be fine...
alrighty, my very first MSTR is good and round 3 of SMCI is also good, time to shut them down (alternative income while waiting for TSLA to resurrect from the dead...)Just let me into your 1% club, I'll be fine...
on paperMany of us belong to the richest 1%, but don't realise it.
