Unlike other software, Tesla firmware updates are not rolled out to everyone at once, and certain updates are only available for certain car configurations. You get them when it's your turn.
As far as I understand both the iPhone and the car need to have full bars. Here are two samples from mine both observed under LTE. They must be using a very aggressive compressing scheme.
That second photo is far better than the first photo. The second photo quality is very acceptable to me. However, it looks like your phone has the same amount of service on both pictures.

I can see it getting better if they add a trigger on the iPhone side when Sentry senses something or someone similar to Nest or Ring doorbells. Flashing is just outright embarrassing
This feature should only be available for the Tesla owner and not members of their household. I can see this feature being abused by jealous spouses or pranky teenagers that drive the car and has the app on thier phone.
I wish I had the same quality as you do. I am very ok with that level of quality. I’ll check again tomorrow but I checked it yesterday and today as well and it was equally bad both times.
Sorry to hear. Maybe it’s worth a reboot. Also full disclosure after I took those got in my car and saw that the car itself had full LTE bars. Just something else to check as quality will vary when cell reception in either the iPhone or car is weak.
I will have to double check the car‘s reception quality. I have Verizon and I know that Tesla uses AT&T. Can’t imagine that AT&T would have a bad network where I live but I cannot confirm for sure.
