Service center distance?

We are in the process of probably going to order a Model 3 by years end. My wife has driven a friend of ours and loves it. So I tried to use the google machine but really did not find what I was looking for.

So here is my question. The closest Tesla Service center is about 60 miles away. I undertand they have mobile service for some issues. My question if its a non drive-able or mobile issue, Will they tow it back to the facility and do they offer loaner cars etc. Just trying to figure out all the differences from a normal dealership that is nearby.

Thanks again for your time.

Take a good look at the Model Y, you might like that better.
They will tow it, as far as loaners, Depends on the site, most are now giving Uber vouchers.

If your vehicle becomes not drive-able roadside service will tow the car to the nearest service center if mobile ranger cannot resolve the issue on-site. In my experience each location is different in terms of loaner vehicles and I assume it depends on the area.

I have had some minor issues that were sorted out via mobile service including axle nut tightening and tire rotation. The techs in my area are good and can handle just about anything on the road besides anything requiring a hoist or the obvious large repairs.

Your delivery specialist should be able to provide you more information or call Tesla.

What happens when the car is not drivable and you need it towed to a SC and it's no longer under warranty ? I would assume the owner would pay for the tow, unless a member of an auto club or have a credit card perk. I still have 200 mile towing from AAA because of my NSX, so haven't been worried about it, just curious is all...

Same as any car needing a tow with no roadside coverage.

So like everyone else said, the loaner-vs-Uber-credit thing is center by center. What I can tell you is that my local center here in NJ has a 48-hour-rule. If the repair is expected to be 1 day or less, they tend to issue Uber credits. Longer, they try to arrange loaners. Of course, everything is flexible - based on availability ...

60-mile distance to a service center SC will be a challenge, or at least it would have been for me.
Yes, they will tow the car if it is non-drivable, then you will need to find your own way of getting to/from the SC that's 60 miles away.

Loaner Model S's are rare, and getting rarer, as demand for SC services grows with Tesla's sales.
$25-50 Uber credit that SCs give out as substitute for loaners, will NOT cover your cost of Ubering for 60 miles. Not even for one-way trip.

Just trying to figure out all the differences from a normal dealership that is nearby.

Would you buy a car, of any brand, that requires 60 miles commute to a service center?
And doesn't guarantee loaners?

Tesla makes lovely cars, but the service experience has not scaled up to meet the increased demand.
It's up to you to decide if you are willing to overlook that, or not.

HTH,

I live 220 miles from the Chicago service center. Both times that I have been there, they have had at least five loaner Model S's available. I just put a note in my service request that I'm going to need one and they've always had it ready for me.

Thanks for your info guys. That is defiantly something I will take into consideration, and talk with the service center when we decide. Its only about 15 minutes from the wifes work but 60 miles from the house so if we can figure out if they do loaners then it would not be so bad. Thanks again and hoping to join the family in the future.

your second question is hit or miss. I service in Burbank and they do run a small fleet of loaners through enterprise. I request one because I need to pick up my kids and cant do that with uber because of the car seats. They are usually accommodating but a few times they just didnt have one and I had to uber back home until one was available. Uber credits also dont cover tip so thats something to remember as well. They give you plenty of credit to get an Uber black if you want but its never free.

We have 2 model 3s (for 22 and 11 months) and live 100 miles from the nearest SC. my few experiences with the SC have been great. the last time there (for HW3 update to early M3) I was given a model S loaner even though I didn't ask for it. FWIW I really didn't like it - too big - couldn't wait to get back in the M3. The last gasmobile I bought was from a dealer literally 1.5 miles from my house and 1 block from my office. I like the Tesla service much better. As a prospective Tesla owner I encourage you to take on-line gripes with a grain of salt. Every owner I know has been pleased with Tesla service.
