Short trips bother EVs?

Not a technical problem altho I'd argue that doesn't matter so much, because even in ICE, it's not like the car will stop working altogether.

The issue, like ICE, is the efficiency. In harsh winters, both your ICE and EV suffer from trying to warm things up. The pro with EV is that you are warmer in the car faster but you still take the efficiency hit because the battery takes forever to warm up. An ICE warms up faster...

No problem with EV.
And not a problem with many newer cars, as a number will shut off and restart at a light

I'm not sure how shutting off an ICE car at stop-lights helps the problem ICE cars have with short trips. Specifically, carbonizing of valves, combustion chamber and the top of the piston, poor emissions and poor economy. Cars that shut off the engine at stop lights don't shut down until the engine is up to operating temperature.

EV's are really ideal in a short-trip scenario except that you will save more money if your typical daily drive is longer.
