Should Model S have a solar panel?

Cool! It will be interesting to know how much miles per day can give the solar panels in the roof,

That's not the best metric, IMHO. Better to go with annual self propelled mileage. You don't manage a long term investment on its daily returns...

Current technology right now would net ~3.5% of an average American car's annual mileage. That's a straight up average car, factoring things like weather and garaging. A car in the southwest that's not garaged will be 4.5%+. A garaged car in DC or Chicago will be 2%.

In ~20 years hardware efficiencies and [driverless] sun optimization will push that average 3.5% up to 10-12%.

Double the PV area (using the hood, trunk, etc) and you're easily over 20% annual mileage. For an average car. That's real. That's attainable. Cost is the only roadblock.
