I just purchased my Y leaving my Honda behind and I really miss the ability to see the lane next to me when I engage the turn signal. Is there any indication when this will be avaliable? For those who don't want it why not make it an option.

Elon has tweeted that this will be a future feature - the camera image will pop up on the screen when you change lanes. Hopefully, they'll include it in the mythical V9 update that is rumored to be out mid June...

Old post, but in case someone researching this now exists. In heavy rain on motorway the side cameras are ridiculously awesome. 100% clear visibility that no car there rather than making best guess looking at a blurry scatter of light through a rain covered window at rain covered side mirrors.

Also felt it was a little weird to get this just when turning left or right, but already saved one cyclist who thought he'd cut on the curb side.

I just need to create driving habit to look to screen when changing lanes instead of side mirrors.
