"I'm sorry that I didn't cover your latest Faux News climate myth--I don't have time to deal with all of them."

I'm sorry, did you really say that the Vostok data is a Fox News myth? For someone so informed and full of links, you are not as informed as you think you are. This behavior falls under "religion" and OCD/ADD. The data you just dismissed was not gathered in a garden in California.

So I'll ask you again, please explain why the Vostok ice core data shows that warming preceded CO2 levels by 1,000 years.

For our interested readers not prone to bold type:

Historical Carbon Dioxide Record from the Vostok Ice Core

"Scientific Consensus: Earth's Climate is Warming"

This is the NASA proclamation per you own link. As if, this is novel. Scientific consensus says the sun will rise in the east. I'm a scientist, did I get my grant?

Personally, if I was that ignorant and uninformed on the single greatest threat facing our entire planet, I wouldn't be bragging about it in a public forum.

Instead, I'd start learning about it, and then DOING something about it, such as informing others that were similarly uninformed.

Let's hope you might start doing that too?

OK, please tell us what exactly YOU are doing about it, and by what metric you judge your efforts a success. Let's start with this: you drive a Tesla and tell people to drive a Tesla. Good. Anything else?

IMHO, basically calling ICE drivers villains is much more ignorant and uninformed than saying that there are reasons for buying a Tesla besides CO2 and that it won't single handedly reverse climate change (which is a MASSIVE threat).

Ah, yes, the "Don't bother me with the facts; my mind is made up!" argument.

Normally we have erudite posters on TMC, but there remain too many like this one . . . .

We need Darwin more than ever as even the least intelligent seem to survive these days.
It’s ironic that you call for my death when in reality if you were to pass on, that would actually help the earth. Think about it, you won’t be around to buy stuff which reduces the need to make that stuff, you won’t be driving a vehicles which is a huge emitter of C02 even the electric ones(tires, replacement parts)

So I guess my question is how committed are you to saving the planet?

After reading all of these posts, I feel like I need to apologize to the world. I was wrong to buy a Tesla. I traded in a Chevy Volt that got me 5 miles on a single kW on a bad day and 6 miles on a good one (and 6.5 on one single great day). My Tesla gets me right around 3 miles on a good day, I am obviously wasting resources. My reprehensible behavior will likely cause the end of our species 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001

The car that I have today is not the car that I bought

Your signature S85 is now, ~7.5 years old. I guess expectation management is in order if you were expecting a miracle of battery technology. Considering the ages of our cars (mine is 7 years old), and that we have an original "A" pack that never supported more than 90 kW fast charging, was the original battery pack design, and one of the first in a line of a million cars, Tesla deserves a bit of a thumbs up for sustaining our old cars as well as they have. I love the new firmware changes, and what a huge transition from the V5 UI when we bought our Tesla used in 2015.

Not relevant to the OP's post, and the reason this thread exists.

At all.

But I'll humor you:

Eight MS's so far, ninth on the way in a few weeks.

SolarCity/Tesla Energy PV array since 2013.

Swapping "natural gas" water heaters for non-fossil fuel water heaters soon.

Now let's get back on topic: Shaming the OP until he stops his poor choices. He screwed up. Period. And he needs to be back in the EV world, and converting others to do the same.

We don't have the time to be jerking around like idiots. The global market for cars, trucks, etc. is somewhere between 80m and 95m units a year.

~2% (or less) of that is EV's.

Even if that was at 100% EV's tomorrow morning, it would still take nearly two decades to replace the existing fleet.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND JUST HOW FAR BEHIND WE ARE?

(Where is Darwin when we need him?)

Not quite.

He is not just random "ICE driver."

He is a FORMER TESLA OWNER who made the stunningly stupid choice to replace his Tesla with an ICE vehicle.

This is shameful and beyond ignorant; he needs to be called out for this terrible choice.

Period.

If you can't see that, then you too are obviously grossly uninformed.

So let's try again:

News | Huge Cavity in Antarctic Glacier Signals Rapid Decay

"About the size of Florida, Thwaites Glacier is currently responsible for approximately 4 percent of global sea level rise. It holds enough ice to raise the world ocean a little over 2 feet (65 centimeters) and backstops neighboring glaciers that would raise sea levels an additional 8 feet (2.4 meters) if all the ice were lost."

(Tip: If comprehension is hard for you, try reading more SLOWLY.)

And:

Bonus: These are the nice folks (sarcasm) that the OP helps fund so they can continue to destroy the entire friggin' planet, EVERY SINGLE TIME HE BUYS GAS:

My guess is Stay at Home had driven some people to be extremists?
Whatever happened to etiquette and respect for others?

Get a grip--this is a special case.

This is NOT some random idiot, this is a 5.5 year Tesla owner, ostensibly looked up to by his peers based upon his profession and education.

He made a TERRIBLE choice with far reaching consequences, far beyond him. By dint of his position, he leads by example.

He just set a terrible example due to unacceptable ignorance, and/or a petty beef with Tesla on how the latest SC speeds (for a network that barely existed when he purchased his car!) have added a few token minutes to the long-distance trips he takes every _______ (month, year, decade?).

Everyone makes mistakes, but this one is a BIG one that he should correct.

A long look at the data, and the mirror, should fix it.

So you’ve bought a new model s every single year? You do realize it takes a huge amount of energy to produce them right?

Also since you have the money for it why don’t you take @whitex up on his offer and pay for half of a new tesla. That way he’s not forced to go back to an ICE. You’ll be the hero we don’t deserve... or want.
