Something’s Different - March 2018 Model S Rear View Mirror Vent Slots

Just noticed this on my March 2018 Build Model S 100D with the new MCU. Any ideas why they added these vent slots?
Perhaps to prevent the 3 cameras from overheating? Was there a change in the camera hardware?

As for the vent slots, interesting. Are there slots at the top also? How is air really supposed to circulate if the only openings are at the bottom?!

Interesting. There seem to be revised parts being added to he vehicle fairly frequently now.

I'm kinda blown away that BMW (probably others) actually have this built in to their high end cars now.

Is that a QR code on the left side? Can we tell if the mirror is identical to earlier versions?

I just took a look at my Late 2017 MS75 and I have the same vents with the QR code on the mirror housing and similar numbers.

Is this new?
It appears to be a sensor of some sort. (light, temperature, air quality...?)
It’s on the underside of the arm of the mirror under the vented cover (removed here)
perhaps the slots are necessary for the sensor to take measurements.
