Supercharger - Atascadero, CA - 900 El Camino Real (under construction Jun 2023)

Dropped by this week and the posts are in. The electricians working there were unwrapping the main switchgear and transformers. They indicated that their part was complete and the site only needed power to be turned on by PG&E. They also indicated that there might be some legal issues brewing between the hotel (the SC is in their parking lot) and either Tesla or PG&E, otherwise they said it was likely to be hot by the end of next week (12/8). We'll see.
An item of note is the location of the charging posts are located midway in the parking space and it appears that the charging cables are a bit longer than the older charging posts. That configuration should allow non-tesla vehicles to easily reach the charging posts and still stay in the correct parking slot by entering the space forwards or backing in depending on charge port location. The two chargers on the end are set up like the older style chargers with the posts at the end of the stall. One of the two is the designated handicap space. Those two are marked as EV Charging only spaces, for what that's worth.
Looks like it could be a relatively easy design mod to allow non-Tesla vehicles easier access.

V3 posts haven’t changed. Cords aren't longer.
Tesla has a lease agreement with the landowner. They wouldn’t build the site if there was a legal issue with the landowner. It would be spelled out in the lease. Unsure what legal,issues wioukd be involved with PG&E.

Drove by yesterday. 2 power cabinets still wrapped in plastic and yellow tape around the chargers.
All the hardware has been there seemingly since early December. It hasn't been touched since then. From a physical standpoint it seems like it could have been turned on in December. Not sure what the hold up is but this station could really help congestion in Atascadero right now with the Paso supercharger out of commission for over 2 weeks now.
The congestion right now is real, but very shortly we'll see Paso back online, the new Atacadero/Templeton 250 complete, and the new downtown Paso 250 powered on. Once those are done, I think we'll be talking about Morro Bay and Cambria chargers as the next steps for this region.

Talked to hotel staff about 2 weeks ago and they thought the issue was with PG&E. Could be they're still overloaded on solar installs that were approved prior to the April deadline last year. Who knows.

Solar installs have nothing to do with PG&E being busy regarding a supercharger. Is there a large green transformer? I do not see one in any of the pictures posted here. That could be a holdup and is very common right now.

At least they fixed Paso which has alleviated congestion at the other ancient Atascadero site. I'm wondering if that one was also waiting on a transformer/PGE in some capacity.

Could be. I noticed last week that there appears to be an open pad for some sort of large cabinet. It could be for a transformer so a real source of delays for PG&E.

Just found this in the SF Chronicle: As of December 2023, an estimated 540 PG&E customers were waiting for transformers, with about 40% of those located in the Bay Area. These delays not only exacerbate uncertainty for individuals and families eager to move in but also significantly inflate development costs.
