Hmm, I wonder why too. I've charged there a few times and have seen more than three cars there.

BUT - if it is 250 kw and has CCS connectors, so be it!

I'm always happy with new builds...but why not stick one somewhere in-between the current chargers on I-10 first before doubling up? They really need less space between chargers for those towing and just to offer more options anyway.

Maybe it's what was available? IIRC there was some difficulty getting chargers in west Texas partially due to 'red tape' from local oil and big car dealerships. Maybe they are still making it difficult at certain locations?

Tesla could have moved this to Marfa or Alpine so that we have a supercharger near Big Bend.

There's simply not enough people (less than half a million annually) that go to Big Bend to make it worthwhile for Tesla to build a supercharger just for it, at least for now. Tesla did build a supercharger just for the Grand Canyon because that gets much more traffic.

there should be a SC in Alpine. Needed for the whole region including Marfa/Ft. Davis/Marathon, not just Big Bend traffic.

I charged up at the usual place today, but the wife needed something from the grocery store. Sure enough, on the east side of Porter's grocery store, I found construction. No crews on site to talk to, but the cabinets are in place.

Will be nice to have a 250 to juice up with, even though I've never had a problem at the old one.

Two national parks completed over the weekend. Stayed in Carlsbad nm and charged at the local McDonald’s as per PlugShare. On Saturday 3/18 wife and I started Guadalupe peak hike at 8 and finished at 2:45. Awesome hike very strenuous along with cold, wind and snow. Then 3/19 completed Carlsbad caverns, walk through the natural entrance and complete the walkthrough about 3 miles total or so. took elevator back up. Both places awesome would definitely go back again and do a different trail.
