Switched power source?

I'm looking to get a radar detector installed and the tech said that teslas don't have a switched power source available, so I'd have to manually turn it on and off each time. The research I've found so far shows that older teslas have one in the upper rearview mirror area, but I have a newer model (sept 2016). Anyone have more info?

My Escort radar detector is connected to a unswitched power source, inside the mic grill (above) the rear view mirror. Installed in June.
The manual power off/on is a very minor annoyance. I've left it on, overnight several times, no noticeable impact on battery.

That's wrong. There is a switched power source but it's in the wiring bundle under the driver's side kick panel. A bit tough to access but it works.
